• Provide clear, pragmatic, and solution-oriented legal advice to enable business strategy while managing legal risk. • Participate in complex problem resolution, providing expert legal advice on high-stakes issues and disputes. • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. • Partner with business counterparts across the enterprise to help drive the delivery of effective legal services. • Manage legal risks and safeguard PayPal's legal interests, developing comprehensive risk management frameworks. • Escalate complex issues to senior legal leadership where appropriate.

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years relevant experience and a Juris doctorate degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A qualified lawyer in one of the EMEA jurisdictions with strong practical expertise in employment and labour law, with experience across two or more EMEA jurisdictions.
  • Significant post-qualification experience (ideally 8+ years), including proven senior in-house experience within a multinational organisation.
  • Demonstrated capability in managing complex litigation, investigations, and workforce change projects.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills in English; additional European languages are advantageous.

Role Description As a Senior Legal Counsel, Capital Markets, you will support the execution of key financing transactions and provide practical legal guidance across investor-facing activities. Role Description The Associate Policy Counsel position is a legal role that works closely with the senior underwriting team members to draft policy wording and related documents for Transactional Liability insurance products underwritten by Ethos, including Representations and Warranties Insurance, Tax Liability Insurance, and other bespoke products. The Associate Policy Counsel serves as the legal subject matter expert for Ethos insurance products through a combination of transactional, compliance, and regulatory/legal expertise and will be responsible for developing policy wording and advising the Ethos team on underwriting, coverage, and compliance matters. This is an exciting opportunity to join an entrepreneurial-minded business in a fast-paced environment with exposure to all aspects of commercial specialty insurance. Essential Functions and Basic Duties - Drafting and negotiating policy language for primary and excess buyer- and seller-side Representation and Warranties Insurance policies, Tax Liability Insurance policies, and Canadian Indigenous Land Claims Insurance. - Reviewing bound insurance policies prior to issuance to policyholders to ensure compliance with applicable insurance law, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations across relevant jurisdictions. - Reviewing non-disclosure agreements and other contracts in support of the underwriting team. - Collaborating with Senior Counsel and Underwriting Counsel to develop policy wording. Technical Skills & Knowledge - High competency in understanding complex corporate M&A transactions and drafting transaction documents (familiarity with R&W insurance policies is a plus). - Strong negotiating skills. - Specific knowledge of transactional legal exposures (warranty breaches, tax structuring issues, litigation, and computation and measure of damages).
