• Join discovery sessions alongside the BI Product Manager when the consumption experience is central to defining the problem • Observe how users interact with data in their actual environment, contribute a user experience perspective before solutions are attached to problems, and push back when a proposed direction is technically solvable but experientially wrong. • Own information hierarchy, navigation, visualization selection, and layout across BI reporting products. • Make and defend design decisions based on the decision the report needs to enable, not aesthetic preference. • Align with the Analytics Developer on data availability before making design commitments. • Maintain working knowledge of both primary consumer types - operational users who need to act quickly and leadership users who need context and narrative - and design appropriately for each. • Test designs with actual users from both categories before work ships. • Prototype early and share work before it is finished. • Test the design approach, not just the visual details, and iterate based on what users actually do rather than what they say they prefer. • Own and maintain the Power BI visual standard for the BI team, including color conventions, layout patterns, visualization guidelines, and reusable templates for the two primary use cases. • Document design decisions so the standard can be evolved intentionally. • Track whether shipped work is being used and whether the experience is creating the conditions for decisions to be made. • Surface adoption signals and design-related friction back into iteration rather than treating delivery as the endpoint. • Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and effort estimation as part of a structured delivery model. Work is tracked and managed in Azure DevOps.

Job Description Overview piplanning.io is a purpose-built SaaS web application that helps organizations plan and execute at scale, supporting PI Planning and ongoing execution with visual, collaborative workflows with dedicated whiteboard/canvas experiences. We’re a small, highly accountable product team with end-to-end responsibility for piplanning.io’s success inside Scaled Agile, Inc. (SAI), from discovery and delivery to supporting sales motions and helping customers succeed in the real world. Our work is used in complex, high-stakes enterprise environments, so we care deeply about clarity, reliability, and craftsmanship. (piplanning.io is part of SAI, the company behind SAFe®, supporting a global community and enterprise customers.) About the Role We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer with strong B2B SaaS web-app experience who can own meaningful product areas end-to-end. You’ll work closely with our customers, product, engineering, and go-to-market partners to simplify complex workflows, raise design quality, and ship improvements that customers feel immediately. What You’ll Be Doing - Own design from discovery to delivery: frame problems, map flows, prototype, design high-fidelity UI, partner with engineers through implementation, and iterate after release. - Design complex B2B workflows and make them feel intuitive, fast, and “obviously correct” for enterprise users. - Push interaction design for our purpose-built whiteboards/canvases: object models, editing states, affordances, spatial navigation, consistency, edge cases, and scalability. - Create strong prototypes in Figma (and beyond when needed) to validate ideas early and align stakeholders. - Contribute to (and evolve) our design system: patterns, components, interaction standards, and documentation that help us ship faster without sacrificing quality. - Collaborate cross-functionally: Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, because in our team, design is part of the full loop (value discovery → delivery → adoption → customer success → value discovery). - Use qualitative + quantitative signals to guide decisions (customer calls, support data, product usage, feedback loops) and make tradeoffs explicit. And yes, you’ll also use AI not just to work faster, but to create AI-driven capabilities for our users (e.g., smart suggestions, insight generation, automation) that measurably improve planning and execution outcomes. Qualifications A successful candidate will have: - Proven product design experience for B2B SaaS web apps, with a portfolio that shows decision-making and outcomes. - Advanced Figma skills and experience contributing to design systems and reusable patterns. - Strong UX fundamentals: Information architecture, interaction design, visual hierarchy, accessibility, and systems thinking. - Confidence in collaborating with engineers, comfortable discussing constraints, tradeoffs, and implementation details to protect design intent through launch. - High ownership in small teams and the ability to drive from ambiguity to shipped outcomes. Nice to have (big plus): - Experience designing whiteboard/canvas tools or other complex interaction products. - Experience with enterprise admin concepts (roles/permissions/workspace management) and/or onboarding/activation flows. - Familiarity with AI-assisted prototyping workflows (Lovable, Figma Make, or similar) to turn insights into prototypes for rapid user validation. Why Join Us - Real ownership: you’ll shape core product experiences, not just “make screens.” - High-leverage design problems: enterprise planning, visual collaboration, and complex workflows where clarity and quality matters. - Part of Scaled Agile, Inc. with global reach and a large professional ecosystem while still operating in a focused product team. Additional Information Where you’ll be working: European Country, ideally in Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland. We proudly support a collaborative remote environment for our globally distributed teammates, while also using our Boulder office as a resource. #LI-Remote Flexible hours: This position is available as a full-time or part-time opportunity Wondering if You Should Apply? If you have strong B2B SaaS web-app design experience and you’re excited to own problems end-to-end, especially in a product where collaboration and “canvas” interactions matter, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to match every bullet to apply. All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
