Job Description

Senior Developer, COBOL – Mainframe

Vetta

• Work on the development, maintenance and evolution of systems in a mainframe environment, ensuring stability, performance and security for critical business applications. • Propose techniques and solutions to optimize processing time and improve the efficiency of high-end platform resource usage. • Develop and maintain COBOL systems (online and batch). • Provide production support and handle critical incidents. • Analyze requirements and propose technical solutions. • Ensure system stability and performance. • Participate in deployments and user acceptance testing (UAT). • Support testing and technical validations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge of the following tools: COBOL; batch and online processing; CICS; VSAM; DB2; JCL; TSO/ISPF; FTP.
  • Mainframe utilities (SORT, IDCAMS, File Manager, etc.).
  • Processing flows (CA-ESP).
  • Utilities (e.g., SORT).
  • Experience in complex environments.
  • Experience analyzing processes, programs, processing flows and infrastructure.
  • Intermediate to advanced English.
  • Technical knowledge in:
  • Batch performance tuning;
  • Dump analysis and troubleshooting;
  • Mainframe integration with APIs/microservices;
  • Version control (Endevor, Changeman, hybrid Git);
  • Messaging;
  • High-volume processing;
  • Security and auditing;
  • Legacy systems architecture.
