Manager, Actuary
DaVita Kidney Care
• The IKC Actuary Manager is responsible for the actuarial modeling and financial management of our existing Integrated Kidney Care programs related to government programs such as Medicare Advantage C-SNPs and underwriting new value-based care contracts. • Manage program financial and membership reconciliations and monitor developing program experience. • Peer review forecasts of program experience (both claims cost and CMS revenue), BNP modeling, and the monitoring of historical experience. • Evaluate drivers of program performance and communicate results to the leadership team and internal stakeholders. • Analyze CMS standard reporting files such as MMR, MOR, etc. to forecast risk adjustments and CMS revenue. • Create internal performance benchmarks and assist in actuarial process and capability development. • Serve as a subject matter expert in Medicare Advantage programs, specific to the kidney care space.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Statistics, Biostatistics, Actuarial Science or Economics required)
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA)
- At least 6 years of relevant Medicare Advantage and actuarial experience
- Extensive actuarial modeling experience in Microsoft Excel
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and other applications
- Strong track record of managing actuarial and/or medical economics analysts
- Proven experience in actuarial project management
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proven complex problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: Technical Proficiency: SQL, advance Excel, Alteryx, Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA)

The Opportunity This is a field-based position, supporting Abbott’s Vascular division. Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. Our extensive portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices, peripheral stents, thrombectomy catheters and atherectomy devices. We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Clinical Specialist, Vessel Closure, in Orange/Long Beach/Costa Mesa. The Clinical Specialist will primarily be responsible for case planning, case support coverage, and product pull- through throughout the designated territory, and throughout the Region as needed. The Clinical Specialist will promote Vascular products through education, service and training of customers in the hospital setting. The Clinical Specialist will provide clinical education and sales support in order to assist in achieving projected sales goals, increasing sales revenues within assigned product lines, and increasing market share. This position will have a heavy focus on Vessel Closure. Role Description The Actuarial – Healthcare Economist performs actuarial analysis pertinent to FCS businesses, including the Value-Based Care Program Portfolio and the analysis and supportive development of new alternative payment models and population health management. This individual should be proficient in actuarial science methodologies and develop/use relevant tools, databases, and record systems to gather and synthesize information for interpretation. The Actuarial – Healthcare Economist will provide detailed analysis, build forecasting models, consult with business leaders, and provide advice and recommendations for risk assessment and mitigation efforts across business units. They will assess affordability analytics in support of medical cost reduction, quality of care improvement, and increase in high-value care delivery and patient satisfaction. Additionally, they will prepare projections for market trends and relevant impacts to VBC programs using healthcare economics techniques and methods. This individual may also oversee actuarial or underwriting staff.
