Finance Operations & Controls Specialist
Laminar Projects
• Own core finance operations Support payments, treasury activities, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and operational finance processes to ensure everything runs accurately and on time. • Strengthen controls and accuracy Perform checks, reconciliations, and reviews across financial data and operational workflows. Investigate inconsistencies, resolve issues proactively, and improve reliability across processes. • Improve systems and workflows Use Excel and Power Query to structure, clean, analyse, and improve finance data. Help automate manual tasks and create more scalable ways of working. • Collaborate across the business Work closely with Finance, People Ops, external accountants, payroll providers, and operational teams to ensure smooth coordination and clear communication. • Take ownership and drive improvement Operate autonomously, identify inefficiencies, challenge weak processes constructively, and proactively contribute ideas that improve how the function operates.
Job Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in finance operations, accounting, payroll, treasury, payments, or similar operational finance roles
- Strong Excel skills and solid Power Query experience
- Experience working with reconciliations, financial data, and operational controls
- Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies quickly
- Comfortable taking ownership and operating autonomously
- Clear communication skills in English
- Process-improvement mindset — you naturally look for better ways of working
- Comfortable using AI/tools to improve efficiency and solve problems
- Power BI experience (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Xero, Pleo, Wise, or similar finance tools (Nice to Have)
- Experience working across multiple countries/entities (Nice to Have)
- Experience supporting or improving operational finance processes in scaling businesses (Nice to Have)
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, international environments (Nice to Have)
