Job Description

Senior Manager, Product Design

Buyers Edge Platform

• Hold and evolve the long-term product design vision for Back Office in close partnership with the Director of Product, Director of Engineering, and Back Office executive stakeholders • Advocate for users in strategic roadmap discussions—bringing user insight into the room, not just into the deliverables • Bring design to the leadership table as a peer, not a service function; articulate design’s role in driving product outcomes and build conviction across stakeholders • Define what design excellence looks like for Back Office and hold the team accountable to that standard • Build the process, rhythm, and shared ownership model that helps the team grow a component library intentionally over time • Establish a phased documentation plan that makes steady progress without pulling designers off product work • Define contribution norms so designers work with the library consistently—adding to it thoughtfully rather than around it • Partner with engineering to reduce implementation drift and build shared language around design system decisions • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leadership to shape roadmap priorities, ensure design intent translates into implementation quality, and represent design in leadership discussions • Define and track design quality metrics that matter to the business—and build a habit of presenting outcomes, not just deliverables, to leadership • Champion AI-assisted workflows that help your team move faster without sacrificing quality • Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of product designers - providing design direction and raising the quality bar through regular critiques and hands-on partnership • Create an environment where designers have clarity, space, and confidence to do their best work

Job Requirements

  • 7–10+ years in product or UX design, with at least 3–5 years in a people management or design leadership role
  • Proven track record leading design for complex enterprise or B2B SaaS products
  • Experience in food service, hospitality, supply chain, or other complex operational industries
  • Background in multi-product or platform environments with shared design systems across product lines
  • Familiarity with enterprise B2B challenges: complex user hierarchies, long implementation cycles, multistakeholder decision-making
  • Experience with operational or financial software, accounting workflows, multi-user environments, or similarly dense information-heavy products
  • Experience bringing design to the leadership table: shaping product strategy, building stakeholder conviction, and advocating for users in high-stakes decisions
  • Experience growing a component library or design system with a team—building process, documentation habits, and contribution norms that move a system forward
  • A track record of measuring and communicating design outcomes—not just outputs—and using data to make the case for design investment
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills with Product and Engineering leadership; excellent communication and storytelling across both design and executive audiences
  • Expertise in Figma and modern design tooling, including AI-assisted workflows; comfort working in agile environments

Benefits

  • Great benefits from day one. We offer medical, dental, vision, FSA, company-paid life insurance, and more—plus a 401(k) with company match.
  • Grow with us. Enjoy strong training, development, and competitive pay.
  • Work-life balance. Our flexible PTO policy lets you take time when you need it—no accrual required.

Backed by a passionate team, our mission is to make pet care simple, accessible, and joyful for all. Because pets aren't just animals—they're family. Location: REMOTE Reports to: Yourgi Vice President of Product, UX Design, and Data Pay: $125k to $155k base + Bonus Core Responsibilities - Design and ship features (~60%) - Design and ship features end-to-end across web, iOS, and Android for both Yourgi and Yourgi Pro, taking them from research and discovery through wireframes, prototypes, and final UI. - Translate two-sided marketplace dynamics, pet-parent and pro needs, and business requirements into intuitive, accessible (WCAG), scalable experiences. - Conduct and synthesize user research (interviews, usability testing, surveys) to ground design decisions in evidence. - Partner with product managers and engineers to shape product direction, and communicate design rationale clearly to leadership and cross-functional partners. - Lead the design team (~20%) - Manage one full-time designer and two contractors who function as full team members: 1:1s, growth conversations, design feedback, weekly reviews, and unblocking them on hard design problems. - Own design prioritization and allocation across the team, deciding who works on what each week and where the quality bar sits. - Run design crits and team rituals (weekly reviews, portfolio shares, working sessions). - Partner with the VP on hiring as the team grows: panel interviewing, portfolio reads, and eventually owning the loop. - Own and drive the transition to an AI-first design team (~20%) - Own and help drive Yourgi's transition to an AI-first design team alongside our cross-platform partners on web, iOS, and Android. - Establish how Yourgi designs with AI in practice: code as the source of truth, Storybook (and its mobile equivalents) as the durable component catalog, and Figma as the downstream collaboration surface. - Use AI tools (Claude, Figma AI, Cursor, v0, and similar) as part of how you ship: drafting new components as code, accelerating exploration, and holding the quality bar. - Set the standards and patterns the rest of the design team adopts as we scale. Qualifications - 6+ years of professional experience in product design, UX, and UI, ideally within marketplaces, SaaS, consumer tech, or service-based platforms. - Direct experience managing or leading designers, even one or two reports, with confidence running 1:1s, giving feedback, and having growth conversations. - Track record designing for two-sided marketplaces, including supply and demand dynamics, discovery, and booking or transaction flows. - Experience designing for small business users, with a strong understanding of conversion, onboarding, and growth-focused experiences. - A bias for action. You move quickly, iterate rapidly, and look for the smallest design change that will produce the biggest impact, with comfort in rapid prototyping and rapid experimentation. - A strong portfolio demonstrating UX thinking, interaction design, visual craft, and problem-solving across complex flows. - Proven ability to lead design work from concept to launch in cross-functional, agile teams. - Deep understanding of UX principles, information architecture, and accessibility standards (WCAG). - Comfort using AI tools (Claude, Figma AI, Cursor, v0, and similar) as part of your daily design practice. - Fluency in design and collaboration tools: Figma, FigJam, Loom, User Interviews, Marvin, Lookback, Confluence. - Experience conducting or synthesizing user research and usability testing. - Strong communication skills and comfort presenting work to cross-functional partners and leadership. - High attention to detail with strong visual and interaction design instincts. Requirements - Experience in booking or two-sided marketplace platforms, especially those serving small businesses or independent providers. - Experience optimizing conversion funnels, onboarding, and retention for small business users. - A prior player-coach or team-lead role you can talk through, with examples of what worked and what you'd do differently.
