Associate Attorney - Workers' Compensation Defense

Role Description Join a well-established California defense firm with a strong statewide workers' compensation practice. This is a remote position, but candidates must live in Orange County or Los Angeles County, California, to support regional court appearances, client needs, and local case handling. - Manage California workers' compensation defense matters from assignment through resolution. - Represent employers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators in WCAB proceedings. - Attend hearings, conferences, depositions, trials, and other workers' compensation litigation events. - Draft pleadings, reports, settlement documents, correspondence, and case evaluations. - Analyze claims, evaluate exposure, and help develop efficient defense strategies. - Communicate with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, medical providers, and experts. - Negotiate settlements and work toward practical, cost-effective outcomes. - Use technology and strong organization to manage files efficiently in a remote environment. Qualifications - Active California Bar license in good standing. - 1+ year of California workers' compensation defense experience required. - Experience handling WCAB appearances, hearings, settlements, and file management preferred. - Employer, carrier, or TPA defense experience strongly preferred. - Strong writing, communication, organization, and client service skills. - Ability to work independently in a remote role while staying responsive and deadline-oriented. - Must currently live in Orange County or Los Angeles County, California. Requirements - Must be licensed to practice law in California. - Must have at least 1 year of California workers' compensation defense experience.
