Senior Product Designer

Rootstrap

Role Description We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our design team and play a key role in shaping high-impact, user-centered digital products. In this role, you will lead design initiatives end-to-end, influence product strategy, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and clients to deliver meaningful business and user outcomes. Main Responsibilities - Own and lead the design vision across projects, from early discovery and product definition to high-fidelity execution and delivery. - Drive strategic design decisions, ensuring solutions are not only user-centered but also aligned with business goals and technical feasibility. - Partner closely with clients, product managers, and engineering leads to co-create solutions, challenge assumptions, and elevate product thinking. - Lead complex design projects across the full product lifecycle, including multiple releases and iterations. - Facilitate discovery and definition processes, helping teams deeply understand user needs, problem spaces, and opportunities. - Mentor and support other designers, providing feedback, raising the quality bar, and contributing to team growth. - Evaluate product performance, using qualitative and quantitative insights to inform design decisions and continuously improve experiences. - Advocate for users, ensuring their needs and behaviors meaningfully shape product direction. - Balance speed and craft, knowing when to explore broadly with low-fidelity concepts and when to refine with high attention to detail. - Communicate design decisions effectively, using storytelling, frameworks, and artifacts to align stakeholders and drive clarity. Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in digital product design, ideally within an agency or fast-paced product environment. - A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership, strategic thinking, and measurable impact on products. - Proven ability to lead design processes independently, from discovery through delivery, including research, ideation, prototyping, and validation. - Experience working with cross-functional teams and directly with clients, influencing decisions beyond design. - Strong understanding of product strategy, user experience, and systems thinking, with the ability to connect design decisions to business outcomes. - Experience designing and running experiments, using hypotheses and data (qualitative and quantitative) to guide decisions. - High comfort navigating ambiguity and complexity, with the ability to bring structure, clarity, and direction. - Strong visual design and interaction sensibility, with attention to detail and consistency. - Excellent communication and facilitation skills, able to articulate ideas, lead workshops, and align stakeholders. - Experience mentoring or guiding other designers is a plus. - Proficiency in English. Requirements - A strong product mindset: thinking beyond screens to solve real user and business problems. - A balance between strategy and craft. - A collaborative attitude, with the ability to lead without authority. - Curiosity, ownership, and a drive to continuously raise the bar for design quality and impact. Benefits - Access to Rootstrap University, Conferences/Certifications, and a Mentorship Program for your professional growth. - Learning Bonus. - Opportunities to organize cross-functional initiatives and receive 360 Feedback to improve your skills continuously. - The flexibility to work remotely or from our offices in Montevideo, Buenos Aires, and Medellín, with a flexible time schedule and Workation program. - Gym benefits, psychological counseling, and weekly lunch reimbursements with special foods in the offices. - An Onboarding kit and access to cutting-edge technologies and tools to make your work easier. - Referrals program bonuses, After offices, Prizes, and special occasions gifts to celebrate your achievements. - People Care referent to support your well-being and personal development. - We value your well-being and happiness. - We grow together! Title: Product Designer Location New York, NY (HQ); Remote (Canada); Remote (US); San Francisco, CA Employment Type Full time Location Type Hybrid Department Design Compensation Estimated Base Salary $172K – $440K; Offers Equity The final compensation will depend on the location and level at which the candidate is hired. Job Description: About Ramp Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $100B in annualized spend flows in and out of 50,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books. The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving. We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome. The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same. If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it. About the Role As a Product Designer at Ramp, you are accountable for outcomes, not just artifacts. You work with PMs, engineers, and other designers to define the right problems, explore and validate solutions, and ship product experiences that change customer behavior. Design at Ramp is AI first and builder led. Work starts in an LLM, moves into tools like Claude and Cursor to explore flows and interactions, and then comes into Figma for systems and polish. Designers prototype early, test with real customers, and stay involved through launch and iteration. We are looking for multiple product designers who are excited to work this way and who want to use AI as a core part of how they design. What You’ll Do - Own product work end to end: Partner with PM and engineering to define problems, explore solution spaces, validate concepts, and ship product improvements that move key metrics. Stay involved through launch and iteration, not just handoff. - Start in an LLM: Use tools like Claude to clarify intent, draft short PRDs, and surface risks, edge cases, and initial approaches. Use this work to align quickly with your team. - Validate assumptions with self-serve research: Talk directly with customers, run quick tests, and use what you learn to adjust direction. Treat research as a velocity tool, not a gate. - Prototype using AI tools: Use Cursor and Claude Code to build and iterate on flows and simple interfaces. Let AI generate code while you guide structure, behavior, and UX quality. Partner with engineers to decide what moves into the product. - Bring work into Figma: Translate validated concepts into Figma for full state coverage, system alignment, and production readiness. - Design for the 80 / 20: Encode judgment and complexity under the hood while keeping the default experience simple and successful for most customers. - Contribute to patterns and culture: Share prompts, patterns, and learnings with the design org. Participate in crits and reviews that raise the bar for quality. What You Need - Experience as a product designer working on complex products, ideally in B2B, fintech, or other systems-heavy environments - Ownership of projects from problem definition through launch and iteration - Active use of LLMs such as Claude or ChatGPT in your design workflow - Comfort working in tools like Cursor or Claude Code, even if you are not writing production code by hand - A portfolio that shows strong product thinking, interaction design, and craft - Ability to work with PMs to define success metrics and adjust based on results - Clear communication and comfort collaborating directly with engineers and PMs Nice to Haves - Experience planning and running customer interviews or usability tests - Familiarity with design systems and extending shared components - Comfort with basic front-end concepts such as components and states - Experience in fast-moving product teams where iteration and shipping matter Benefits available to all full-time Ramp employees (Global) - Flexible PTO - Unlimited AI token usage - Centralized home-office equipment ordering - Health and wellness stipend - Budget for intra-office travel - Weekly coffee stipend United States - 100% medical, dental & vision insurance coverage for you, with partial coverage for dependents - One Medical annual membership - 401(k), including employer match on contributions made while employed by Ramp - Fertility HRA (up to $10,000 per year) - Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (80 days) at 100% pay - Pet insurance - In-office perks: lunch, snacks, drinks, and more - Relocation support to NYC or SF (as needed) Canada - Group medical, dental, and vision coverage through Sun Life - Life, AD&D, and disability coverage - Fertility drug coverage (up to $4,000 lifetime) - Group Retirement Plan with employer match (RRSP + DPSP) - Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (80 days) at 100% pay, with additional time available at reduced pay - Employee Assistance Program and virtual care through Lumino Health United Kingdom - Private medical insurance through Freedom Elite - Virtual GP and at-home care via eMed x Livi - Workplace pension through Penfold, with salary sacrifice option - Parental leave: up to 16 weeks (80 days) at 100% pay, with additional time available at reduced pay Referral Instructions If you are being referred for the role, please contact that person to apply on your behalf.
