Role Description The Principal Engineer, Reliability serves as the enterprise subject matter expert for reliability engineering and asset performance across multiple global manufacturing sites. This role provides technical authority, standards governance, and expert guidance for Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance, and lifecycle asset management practices. The Principal Engineer drives measurable improvements in equipment reliability, asset risk reduction, and total cost of ownership through technical leadership, data-driven analysis, and failure elimination discipline, without direct line management accountability. This role is remote with 40%–50% domestic and international travel to support multi-site initiatives, engage with cross-functional teams, and oversee project execution. Key Responsibilities - Serve as the global technical authority for reliability engineering standards, methodologies, and best practices. - Define, maintain, and govern enterprise reliability standards, tools, and frameworks. - Lead the technical deployment and sustainment of Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) across critical asset classes. - Ensure critical equipment has documented failure modes, risk-based maintenance strategies, and performance expectations. - Provide expert guidance on predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and data analytics applications. - Analyze performance data to identify systemic failure patterns and recommend permanent corrective actions. - Lead or support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for complex or high-risk equipment failures. - Support capital projects by embedding reliability and maintainability requirements into design, specification, and asset handover. - Mentor and influence site reliability engineers through technical coaching and knowledge sharing. - Partner with site, regional, and corporate leaders to improve OEE, MTBF, MTTR, and asset availability. Qualifications - Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. - 20+ years of experience in industrial or large-scale manufacturing environments. - 10+ years of advanced experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or asset management. - Recognized expertise in Reliability-Centered Maintenance, failure elimination, and predictive maintenance. - Demonstrated experience influencing reliability practices across multiple sites or regions. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills. - Experience supporting global manufacturing operations with diverse asset profiles. - Familiarity with digital reliability platforms, advanced analytics, and Industry 4.0 concepts. - Professional engineering licensure or relevant reliability certifications (e.g., CMRP, CRE). The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team of biologists and engineers who are responsible for the planning, design, and construction of wetland restoration and enhancement projects.
