Role Description Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, seeks a highly motivated biologist to join our Coastal Conservation Team. As a Regional Biologist I, you will work with a team of biologists, engineers, and land protection professionals to identify, develop, fund, and implement coastal wetland restoration and enhancement projects across the Mid-Atlantic to support DU’s waterfowl and wetlands conservation mission. Duties and Responsibilities - Work closely with DU staff, partners, landowners, and agencies to advance the restoration and protection of coastal habitats. - Coordinate with both internal and external stakeholders to establish priorities and identify new marsh conservation projects. - Have a multi-program responsibility, including private and public land programs with primary focus on wetland restoration/enhancement. - Responsible for project development, funding, and management including: - Develop, coordinate, and implement coastal wetland projects on both public and private lands. - Lead all aspects of marsh restoration planning, project development, and implementation. - Collaborate and coordinate with agency partners and other stakeholder groups. - Develop/maintain relationships with conservation partners. - Write, submit and administer grants and funding proposals. - Collaborate with DU’s science and development teams on coastal habitat conservation programs. - Work with the New England Conservation Team to develop a coordinated conservation strategy. - Support DU’s Ecosystem Services team to identify and advance nature-based solutions. - Represent DU on various working groups, committees, partnerships, and task forces. - Support public policy objectives in coordination with DU staff. - Coordinate with DU staff regarding public outreach, program operation, and fundraising. - Other duties as assigned that advance the mission of Ducks Unlimited and the regional program. Schedule This is a full-time, salaried position. Working hours will be a balance of office and field work, with the approximate allocation dependent on scheduling, seasonal priorities, and other factors. The position is predominantly office-based but does require periods of frequent travel, including overnight and out-of-state trips. This position will report to the New England Coastal Manager. This position is remote work eligible with a preferred location within the region of responsibility (mid-Atlantic) or at our field office in Easton MD. To maintain project timelines, we have a preferred start date on or before June 11, 2026. Qualifications - Bachelor of Science degree (M.S. preferred) in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or related natural resources field. - 3-5+ years of directly related experience developing and managing wetlands restoration and enhancement projects. - Strong background in coastal wetland ecology and management with an emphasis on restoration. - Detail oriented and well organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and budgets. - Excellent management and leadership skills, grounded in a commitment to collaboration. - Confidence to create strong relationships with staff, private landowners, volunteers, and community members. - Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS Online, ArcPro, and Field Maps) and familiarity with state and wetland conservation programs. Role Description Ducks Unlimited, Inc., the world’s leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization, is seeking a self-motivated, experienced civil engineer to work through its South Atlantic Field Office in Hanahan, SC to serve North Carolina and Virginia. The position will work remotely but must be located in Eastern North Carolina or potentially Southeastern Virginia. Location is preferably to be near Washington, NC to be near a future potential office location in the area. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated conservation team of biologists and engineers who are responsible for the planning, design, and construction of wetland restoration and enhancement projects. Qualifications - B.S. in Civil Engineering or an equivalent degree from an EAC/ABET accredited engineering program - Registered civil engineer - Experience with Civil3D, hydrology, hydraulics, structures/pump station design, erosion control, and construction inspection and management (desirable) - Demonstrated oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills - Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work in close team-based relationships Requirements - Perform a full range of project planning, design, contracting, and construction management functions on wetland, riparian, and associated habitat restoration projects - Supervise engineering staff and provide oversight on various programs - Assist with budget development and ensure quality control of engineering services and standards - Project delivery responsibilities include scoping and proposal development, engineering design, project bidding, field inspection, and occasional construction management - Maintain close working relationships with local, state, and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners - Occasional travel required Specific Duties - Prepare proposal scope of work and budgets in coordination with biological staff - Interpret, select, adapt, and apply engineering, surveying, and construction management principles and practices - Complete engineering designs and reports as required - Prepare project plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates - Attend project meetings - Conduct field inspection and perform construction management oversight as needed - Ensure that consultants and contractors adhere to project plans, specifications, and schedules - Act as contracting officer, ensure contract compliance, and manage project budgets - Assist with fieldwork as required, which could include strenuous outdoor activity in difficult environmental conditions - Must be able to operate ATV, outboard motor, and boat when necessary To Apply Please fill out all application materials and attach cover letter and resume with references and submit. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field preferred. - Minimum 5 years of relevant experience with federal and/or state grant recipients. - Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. - Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is preferred. - Well-organized and detail oriented. Role Description The Prospect Research Analyst identifies, researches, and analyzes information on current and prospective donors. The position reports to the Director of Prospect Development and provides research support to DU leadership and development staff members. - Conduct proactive research to identify new potential major and principal gift donors using news alerts, a review of weekly gift reports, wealth screening, and other methods. - Conduct quarterly prospect review sessions with assigned fundraisers to ensure accurate and up-to-date opportunities, status information, and portfolio size and health. - Support wealth screening and predictive modeling projects; help to independently verify screening results. - Update information in Blackbaud CRM following established data standards. - Develop and synthesize information on prospects to produce informative profiles/background biographies. - Undertake financial analysis of prospects' and donors' known wealth indicators to assess potential philanthropic capacity. - Proactively track and disseminate donor and prospect-related information to development staff and selected DU leadership. - Monitor news and publicly-available financial information on current major and principal gift donors and prospects. - Strategize and partner with development staff to support the development of high-capacity portfolios. - Develop supportive and productive relationships with development staff and other DU staff involved in fundraising. - Maintain proficiency with standard prospect research resources and stay abreast of new resources and technologies. - Use the database to track research activity for internal prospect research metrics. - Seek opportunities for professional development to enhance job performance. - Safeguard the confidentiality of constituent information at all times by adhering to ethical and confidentiality guidelines. - Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications - Minimum of two years of related experience in prospect research or related role, preferably in a fundraising environment. - Bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university. - Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, technological tools available to DU, including Blackbaud CRM, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office suite. - Familiarity with Internet search strategies and experience using electronic databases and online search tools. - Demonstrated ability to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, and synthesize information from various sources. - High attention to detail and follow-up, and excellent organizational skills. - An aptitude for critical thinking and problem solving. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and tact. - Understanding of philanthropy and fundraising practices. - Flexible and adaptable to new programs in an emerging and changing environment. Requirements - Willingness to work hours that extend outside of the typical workday and workweek throughout the year; some overnight travel is required.
