Associate Principal, Spend Management

Vizient

Role Description In this role, you will lead non-labor spend management strategy and value delivery for a portfolio of complex accounts within the state of Texas, shaping annual account roadmaps and strengthening executive stakeholder relationships. You will partner with client leadership to prioritize initiatives, build governance rhythms (e.g., business reviews/EBRs), and ensure delivery teams execute against the workplan and value commitments (typically $5M–$15M annually, based on portfolio assignment). You will coach peers, promote cross-team collaboration, and help remove barriers to provide consistent “One Vizient” delivery. Responsibilities - Strategic Account Planning: - Own and actively maintain the client spend management account plan. - Lead development and execution of account plans, project plans, and workplans. - Category Strategy Development: - Engage client leadership on challenges across non-labor spend categories. - Lead category workplan initiatives through the full lifecycle. - Navigate client governance to secure decisions. - Ensure category strategies reflect operational realities. - Interpret Vizient insights/intelligence and align findings to client priorities. - Value Delivery & Performance Accountability: - Own value realization for the spend roadmap. - Establish and maintain a benefits tracking approach. - Partner with contracting/category resources to drive contract performance. - Executive Influence & Presence: - Deliver influential value propositions and “so what” narratives. - Lead executive decision-making discussions. - Tailor executive narratives to connect spend initiatives to enterprise priorities. - Build and sustain C-suite relationships. - Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: - Identify issues, analyze options, and drive solutions. - Translate complex spend/utilization/category performance analytics into clear narratives. - Equip internal SMEs and stakeholders with consistent executive-ready insights. - Client Relationship Management: - Build and sustain trusted relationships with supply chain and cross-functional provider stakeholders. - Conduct quarterly spend management business reviews. - Delivery Leadership & Operational Excellence: - Lead biweekly internal delivery meetings. - Establish and enforce One Vizient delivery standards. - Maintain CRM hygiene for assigned territory. - Analytics & Storytelling: - Translate complex spend/utilization/category performance analytics into clear narratives. - Equip internal SMEs and stakeholders with consistent executive-ready insights. - Renewal & Expansion Execution: - Identify and shape expansion opportunities within accounts. - Partner with Enterprise Team on renewal execution. - Mentoring: - Provide mentorship across the delivery team. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. - 10 or more years of relevant experience. - Must demonstrate ability to translate supply chain data and system insights into actions. - Strategic Account Planning: Owns portfolio account strategy and governance rhythms. - Category Strategy Development: Leads multi-category sequencing and prioritization. - Client Relationship Management: Establishes durable executive relationships. - Executive Influence & Presence: Delivers persuasive executive-level messaging. - Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking: Owns escalations within accounts. - Demonstrates readiness for broader regional leadership. - Candidates residing in Texas are preferred. - Ability to travel regularly and expeditiously throughout the year. Estimated Hiring Range The current salary range for this role is $156,500.00 to $290,100.00. This position is also incentive eligible.
