Role Description Betches Media is looking for a Contributing Writer, Pop Culture to lead and grow our humor-driven newsletter presence. This editorial role is perfect for someone who lives and breathes internet culture, understands the Betches voice, and knows how to turn sharp pop culture commentary into measurable audience growth. You’ll own three weekly newsletter sends on our Pop Off Substack and shape smart, self-aware takes on the moments everyone’s group chat is talking about. This role is equal parts pop culture lover and growth strategist. Roles & Responsibilities - Own and execute three weekly newsletter sends (via Substack), from pitching and self-editing to publishing and packaging. - Pitch timely, culturally relevant angles across pop culture and internet discourse, all through the hilarious Betches voice and POV. - Develop editorial strategies that grow subscribers, increase engagement, and deepen brand loyalty. - Analyze Substack data (open rates, CTR, subscriber growth, etc.) to inform strategy and report on findings monthly. - Collaborate cross-functionally with social, design, video, and branded teams to extend content across platforms. - Align with the branded team on calendar sends, sponsorship integrations, and execution timelines. Qualifications - 3+ years of editorial experience in digital media, newsletters, or pop culture commentary. - Strong comedic writing skills and a clear, confident POV. - Proficiency in Substack, including publishing workflows and analytics. - A track record of packaging content for growth and engagement. - Experience writing and editing at a similar publication. - Deep fluency in internet culture, memes, celebrity news, and Millennial/Gen Z humor. - Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and comfort working with branded, social, design, and business teams. - An understanding of how to balance creativity with performance metrics. - A sharp sense of humor and strong editorial instincts. - Experience writing talent interviews a plus. Requirements - The hourly rate for this position is $30/hour for 6-8 hours per week. • Write original, high-quality articles following provided briefs, tone, and structure. • Adapt writing style, terminology, and references to the local audience in Peru. • Ensure factual accuracy, clarity, and a professional yet engaging tone. • Deliver a consistent volume of content within deadlines, meeting editorial, quality, and SEO expectations. • Research relevant sports events, trends, and operators to provide reliable and up-to-date information. • Bring first-hand market knowledge and in-depth local expertise where applicable. • Apply SEO best practices, including keyword usage, internal linking, structured formatting, and on-page optimization. • Collaborate with SEO specialists and Content Managers to adjust and improve existing content. • Monitor article performance when requested and incorporate feedback to refine content. • Review published articles regularly and implement updates when content becomes outdated. • Work closely with Editors and Content Managers to refine drafts and integrate feedback efficiently. • Collaborate with other writers to maintain consistent quality and tone across brands and markets. • Participate in content reviews, workshops, and editorial discussions. • Communicate proactively regarding progress, challenges, deadlines, and content ideas. • Ensure all content complies with brand, editorial, and regulatory guidelines, particularly in iGaming and sports betting. • Maintain accuracy, transparency, and neutrality when writing about operators, bonuses, games, or predictions. • Perform thorough self-proofreading before submission to minimize revisions. • Stay informed about local regulations, market trends, and audience expectations in your assigned country.
