Title: Mental Health Therapist - Virtual Location: Brandywine, MD, US Regular Full-Time Title: Mental Health Therapist – Virtual FLSA Category: Full-Time, Exempt Reports To: Director of Mental and Behavioral Health Services Job Description:Primary Function: Responsible for direct patient mental health treatment including intake, assessment and counseling and therapy with patients who have been referred for mental health services by another provider, school, health and human service agency or by the individual. Works with the psychiatrist to develop care plans and monitor patients who are on medications. This position is not a supervisory position. This position requires to be onsite one (1) day per week. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: - Reviews mental health referrals, and decides whether they are appropriate to the mental health program at Greater Baden. - Completes initial evaluation, and develops treatment plan as appropriate. - Submits information to state agencies as appropriate. - Provides individual and/or group therapy as appropriate to patients’ needs. - Maintains adequate records of therapeutic treatment plans, therapy sessions, and other contacts with patients and other providers. - Coordinates referrals to the psychiatrist, and assists the psychiatrist with patient care needs. - Conducts case management activities as necessary for clients. - Interacts with medical providers as needed for optimal patient care. - Completes encounter forms as appropriate in a timely fashion. - Complies with Joint Commission standards for ambulatory care. - Interacts with other agencies and community members as appropriate. - Submits information needed for credentialing files in a timely manner. - Participates in team/staff meetings; attends in-service meetings and applicable workshops. - Attends required meetings at Greater Baden. This job description provides a summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by individuals in this position. Incumbents may be asked to perform other tasks not specifically Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Licensed as a trained professional to provide mental health services. - Board Certified LCSW - 1+ years’ experience providing individual therapy. - Experience with medically underserved or special populations preferred. - Experience in adolescent counseling and therapy is a PLUS. - Professional maturity, flexibility, and independence to work in a multidisciplinary setting. - Desire to work with medically underserved population. - Proficient in Windows Microsoft Office Suite at a minimum. - Bilingual in Spanish a plus, but not required Communication: - Internal: Superior customer service skills required. This includes tact working with patients, families, and visitors. - Works in a team environment with the other clinical staff. - External: Excellent verbal communication skills when answering and returning telephone calls. Working Conditions: - Position is virtual with potential for hybrid hours in the future depending on telehealth guidance and policies. - Assignments to particular sites, schedules and hours can be changed at any time with reasonable notice. Physical Requirements: - Prolonged sitting for patient encounters - Occasional bending, stooping and stretching - Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. - Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate in writing, in person and by phone. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret written or verbal documents and instructions. Ability to speak effectively to patients, employees and/or stakeholders of the organization. Compliance: This position requires compliance with Greater Baden Medical Services (Health Center’s) compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the Bi-Lingual Mental Health Therapist regular performance evaluation. Travel: Position is virtual, however there may be limited situations where employee must be able to drive to Greater Baden Medical Services, Inc. locations. The Specialty Care Coordinator is a critical member of our integrated specialty care team consisting of nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, care coordinators, and physicians.
