Job Summary As the director of underwriting in national accounts, you will help facilitate and foster sound underwriting and business decisions, develop effective relationships, and contribute toward the growth of the underwriting department in an effort to write and retain long term profitable business.  - Oversee day-to-day production activities of the team; training and developing the underwriters, regular communication between our sales organization as well as other parts of the organization and their team members, and  other ad hoc needs - Risk Decisions: Apply sound and creative underwriting and business judgments to contribute to the growth and profitability of the organization while guiding and mentoring your team to provide the same high-level of timely analysis and evaluation of insurance risks. - Customer Service: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with assigned field personnel, producers, assigned policyholders, and internal teams through professional negotiation, responsive communication, problem resolution, and anticipation of customer needs.  - Projects and Special Assignments: Actively participate in projects as well as provide team members to participate in projects to contribute to corporate goals. Skills and Background You’ll Need Education: Bachelor’s degree in business is preferred, additional experience in lieu of degree Experience: - 3-5 years of experience in a leadership position. - 5-7 years of experience in Life, Absence, and Disability underwriting, preferably in national accounts - Strong leadership experience and proven ability to understand, mentor, and guide the intricate work of a high-performing underwriting team. - Proven ability to partner with and meet the expectations of sales partners and brokers using strong interpersonal relationship skills and business acumen. The actual compensation for this role will be based on a combination of education and experience, knowledge and skills, position budget, internal equity, and market data. Salary Range: $101,250.00 - $162,000.00 Positions will be posted for at least 5 days from original posting date. Role Description We are seeking a Field Production Underwriter who will be responsible for underwriting and marketing accounts throughout approved states/territories. The WC Production Underwriter is a key part of the production underwriting capabilities of AWCS. The Production Underwriter will own the results of their book of business and will engage in activities tied to risk selection and customer service. They are also responsible for the development, production, profitability, and management of their agency distribution network. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities - Own the results of their book of business and be compensated on annual and long-term profitability. - Maintain balance between distribution and risk selection to drive profitable growth. - Understand how their book fits into the broader portfolio strategy. - Develop and maintain agent/broker relationships. - Engage in activities to generate submissions. - Maintain and lead the relationship with assigned agents. - Engage in activities to close accounts.
