Job Description
Head of Volume
Obsidian Systems
Role Description We are looking for a leader who has either built trading volume on a DeFi protocol or trading platform from the ground up, or who has the expertise and relationships to do so. This is a volume-focused role—not a traditional business development position. You must deeply understand liquidity markets, know how to engage demand on a DEX, and be able to build and scale the commercial engine that drives trading activity on the Canton Network. What you Will Own - Own the entire demand side for Tradecraft: from initial contact through to driving active, recurring volume - Identify, contact, and develop trading opportunities across retail and institutional segments, and build the systematic approach that scales it - Lead and manage wallet integrations end to end: WalletConnect, swap and LP integrations with top wallet providers, and the ongoing relationships that keep them active - Drive integrations with trading platforms and institutional trading infrastructure - Onboard asset issuers onto Tradecraft the moment they go live on the Canton Network - Design and execute trading incentive programs that generate real, sustainable volume - Own and continuously improve the competitive benchmark for execution quality - Serve as the voice of the market back to the Product team with the ability to translate what you hear into clear, actionable requirements - Activate and build on existing relationships across the Canton ecosystem to accelerate distribution Qualifications - Experience building trading volume in environments such as the Canton Network, other emerging institutional blockchain networks, new DeFi protocols, or trading infrastructure platforms in early growth stages - Deep familiarity with DeFi market-making dynamics and what it takes to attract and retain serious liquidity - Demonstrated experience closing and managing wallet integrations from negotiation to technical onboarding - Experience working with institutional counterparties, asset managers, market makers, trading desks, or custodians in a digital assets or fintech context; strong relationships with wallet providers, exchanges, or institutional trading firms relevant to the Canton ecosystem (Canton experience a plus) - A track record of building commercial partnerships or distribution channels from the ground up - Entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable operating in ambiguity, creating structure, and thriving without a large team or set playbook
