• Own the execution of the technical direction, quality, and uptime of our ecommerce platform and its integrations. The eCommerce Director will help you keep business objectives sharp and prioritized. • Lead the backend of our platform (Magento 2 implemented by an experienced contractor) side through substantive review: setting quality gates, holding the work to schedule, and stepping into the code when a decision needs senior judgment. • Write, review, and ship our front-end code (Vue 3 and Nuxt for storefront, Sanity for content) alongside our partnered agency, and drive the work to reduce technical debt through whatever means make sense, including refactoring, replacing patterns, and over time bringing more of the work in-house as we grow the internal team. This is the area where the platform is actively expanding and where the technical debt is most visible. • Own the integrations between Magento and the systems it depends on, including ERP (NetSuite), payments, OMS, PIM, and CMS. Real ecommerce problems will come to you: checkout friction, returns workflows, performance bottlenecks, data consistency, and third-party reliability. You will take loosely defined problems, define constraints and tradeoffs, and turn them into clear technical approaches. • You will be involved when production issues arise, and you will contribute to improving monitoring, deployment, and reliability over time. Conduct substantive engineering review on code from internal contributors and external agencies: catching defects, missed edge cases, and shortcuts that will create cost later, and giving specific, actionable feedback. You will push back on external recommendations that conflict with platform health or long-term business outcomes. • Help establish and reinforce standards for code quality, documentation, and development workflows, so rework drops and predictability rises. The goal is lightweight, effective processes that scale as the team grows. • Eventually, we see this role including direct people-management responsibilities, including hiring, performance management, exiting, and everything in between. • Other duties as assigned.
Role Description Take hands-on technical ownership of our ecommerce platform, working under the guidance of our CIO and with our eCommerce Director. Ecommerce is a critical engine of our growth, and your job is to make the site a modern sales engine rather than an aging machine that struggles to keep up. - Own architectural decisions for the platform end-to-end, from performance and reliability to the speed at which new features reach production. - Identify the difference between sound and unsound code through direct engagement and implement improvements. - Spend the majority of your time writing and reviewing code. - Establish patterns for subsequent work and trace issues end-to-end when integrations behave unreliably. - Review contributions from internal developers and external agencies, providing specific, actionable feedback. - Work closely with the CIO and eCommerce Director to ensure technical decisions align with business needs. - Communicate progress, status, and blockers to gain the trust of the team. - Initially be the only dedicated internal engineer on e-commerce, with oversight of external agencies and contractors. - Focus on feature delivery once the foundation is stable, shipping initiatives to production at the appropriate level of quality. Qualifications - 5+ years of professional software engineering experience. - At least 3 years building and operating complex ecommerce platforms at scale (Magento 2, Shopify Plus, etc.). - Strong in JavaScript and TypeScript, with hands-on experience in Vue 3 and Nuxt. - Experience with a headless CMS, ideally Sanity. - Demonstrable experience with a headless or decoupled frontend architecture integrated with a commerce backend. - Experience integrating ecommerce platforms with ERP systems (NetSuite is a plus). - Hands-on experience with caching at the platform level (Varnish, Redis, etc.). - Solid grounding in CI/CD, code review, monitoring, and incident response. - Understanding of UI and UX principles. - Experience working with external agencies and vendors. - Familiarity with PHP and Magento 2 is a plus. - Additional pluses include early technical leadership and Magento 2 frontend modernization experience. Requirements - Be legally authorized to provide independent contractor services from your country of residence. - Be able to invoice a U.S. company directly or through your business entity. - Have reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated workspace. - Be comfortable working in English with a geographically distributed team. Benefits - Compensation: $35 - $48 USD hourly. - This is a long-term independent contractor position supporting a U.S.-based company. - Open to candidates located throughout Europe, with a strong preference for specific countries.

Do you want to join a team that will embrace and encourage your motorsports obsession? Are you a social-savvy marketer looking for an opportunity to dig even deeper into the community? Are you a digital marketer who enjoys the challenge of moving customers from awareness to purchase across multiple channels? If this sounds like you, read on, because Apex is seeking a Digital Marketing Manager to join our team. Who are we? Apex is a leading provider of high-performance automotive wheels and accessories, serving a community of drivers who push limits and demand products that can keep up. Our reputation has been built through deep technical education, including our widely respected fitment guides and Real Performance-driven content, as well as an engineering-first approach to product development and authentic engagement with the enthusiast community. Founded in California in 2007, our company has grown into a team of 40+ passionate professionals and engineers working remotely across the US. We are united by a shared dedication to precision, performance, and authenticity. Objective The Marketing Manager is responsible for translating the CMO’s strategy into coordinated, high-performing programs and execution across key channels, including influencer/partnerships and email marketing, while managing day-to-day execution and handling promotional copywriting. You are a working manager and a channel owner, translating often ambitious strategies, building clear plans, mobilizing resources, and delivering measurable results. This role ensures that marketing initiatives are aligned, executed with speed and quality, and contribute directly to business performance. Job Summary This role sits at the center of Apex’s go-to-market execution. You will work closely with cross-functional partners, including Audience Growth (paid and social), eCommerce, Creative, and Sales, to ensure marketing efforts are aligned and driving measurable outcomes. Success in this role means that; - Marketing Directors and our CMO are insulated from day-to-day execution, with confidence that initiatives are being properly planned, executed, and optimized - Strategy is consistently translated into clear, actionable campaign plans that are delivered on time, on brand, and tied to measurable results - Our Influencer & Partnership program is structured, scalable, and driving meaningful awareness and growth with new audiences - Our email marketing program has evolved beyond primarily promotional campaigns into a more effective lifecycle strategy, growing our owned audience, improving engagement (CTR), and delivering stronger performance - Our promotional and campaign copy consistently reflects Apex’s brand voice, technical credibility, and high standards within the enthusiast community A critical component of this role is partnership with Sales. You will take inputs such as product priorities, promotions, and launch plans and translate them into clear marketing briefs and execution plans. From there, you will quarterback execution across the marketing team, ensuring work is scoped correctly, prioritized appropriately, and delivered on time. You will begin as a hands-on leader, directly owning execution in key channels while also guiding others. Success in this role means that day-to-day marketing execution becomes predictable, high-quality, and frees up our Directors to focus on strategy because they know the work is in good hands. This is not a coordination role. You are expected to own outcomes, not just activity. You should be comfortable operating across multiple channels, making decisions with incomplete information, and being accountable for results. You must understand how marketing contributes across the full funnel, from awareness through retention, and how your channels influence performance at each stage. You should be able to evaluate what’s working, justify your decisions, and adjust quickly when needed. This role requires a deep understanding of our customers. Apex serves a highly knowledgeable and discerning enthusiast audience, where credibility is earned through technical fluency and authentic engagement. To be effective, you must be able to understand what matters to our customers, why they make purchasing decisions, and how to communicate in a way that resonates with their expectations and level of expertise. Surface-level marketing won’t work here. Strong performance in this role depends on your ability to align marketing execution with the mindset and standards of a true automotive enthusiast. Our Marketing team is navigating its second leadership transition in recent years, and an incoming Chief Marketing Officer will help define the long-term structure of the department. This role will play a key part in stabilizing execution and building consistency during that transition. Experience operating in environments with change, ambiguity, and shifting priorities will be important. Over time, this role is expected to grow in scope. Success will require building scalable systems, creating repeatable processes, and improving efficiency through automation and thoughtful application of AI. As these systems mature, you will have the opportunity to delegate more of the day-to-day execution and expand your impact. In the near term, you should be excited to contribute directly through hands-on execution, not just through team management. How to apply In your cover letter, tell us about your connection to automotive or motorsports culture and then tell us about your involvment with an Influencer & Partnership program you’ve overseen or managed.
