Stormwater Estimator
Apex Companies
• Developing and modifying multiple comprehensive cost estimates and bid packages for a variety of stormwater-related construction projects. • Manage and develop a group of estimators working on stormwater-related construction bid packages. • Review deficiencies identified by Apex personnel to generate proposal opportunities. • Meet client deadlines for proposal development and submission. • Working closely with a growth team on new client work development. • Contacting regulatory authorities to discuss aspects of violations. • Developing material pricing databases for bidding purposes. • Create bid takeoff to determine quantities for bidding. • Occasional travel (5 -10%) to review projects or continuing education opportunities. • Actively participate in a culture of safe work practices.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
- Must have 4 or more years of experience as an Estimator for construction, stormwater, utilities, erosion control and/or excavation & grading projects.
- Demonstrates high-level of comprehension of construction processes, including familiarity with construction materials and estimating quantities
- Experience with estimating software preferred
- Ability to read site plans and develop cost estimates efficiently
- Possesses a track record of establishing and maintaining working relationships with vendors and subcontractors
- Works well in a team environment and possesses excellent communication skills
- Hands on management and execution of varied stormwater and related projects, with accountability for project quality, safety and adherence to schedules and budgets
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat
- Organized, self-motivated, fast learner, able to multitask and unafraid of deadlines
- Valid drivers license and a good driving history are required
- Experience with Deltek Vision is highly desired.

• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project requirements to prepare accurate estimates for aluminum railing projects. • Perform material quantity take-offs and cost calculations. • Prepare and submit detailed quotations and proposals to clients, contractors, and builders. • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to obtain pricing for materials and services. • Evaluate project scope, timelines, and installation requirements. • Participates in various departmental and interdepartmental meeting or training as required. • Prequalify potential clients with appropriate questions to establish budget, timelines, and compatibility, prepare quotations and site installation meetings as required. • Assist in change orders with the project managers. • Manage clients’ expectations by informing them of company processes, policies, and timelines. • Update clients of business changes such as product offering, pricing, or assembly options. • Other related duties as assigned.
