Role Description We seek a talented User Experience Researcher to join a growing team of designers, researchers, and writers supporting clients in federal government. Through our work building and modernizing enterprise software applications, you will have the opportunity to design products that are simple, intuitive, and satisfying that ultimately help the federal government work better and deliver better services. As a UX Researcher, you have a pivotal role in understanding and advocating for end users while collaborating with stakeholders and cross-functional partners to optimize product prototypes, validate product and design decisions, and deliver high quality experiences. You will be responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative research, synthesizing secondary research, and translating insights into powerful stories. You will distill findings into actionable insights, advocate for customer and user needs, collaborate on product designs, validate them with users, and more. This position will be embedded in one of our projects in the federal healthcare IT industry, such as the US Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Key Responsibilities - Work to support the UX vision and strategy established by project leadership in alignment with business objectives. - Collaborate to form questions, hypotheses, and methods to effectively uncover insights and execute research plans to inform product and user experience decisions. - Help drive empathy and validate concepts by conducting user interviews and surveys, developing personas, and conducting other research. - Support efforts to discover and develop UX solutions by participating in ideation sessions, rapid testing, and concept validation. - Help teams iterate by testing solutions for usability and accessibility, running feedback sessions, and conducting related research. - Communicate study results and user outcomes clearly and in an unbiased way, using data to illustrate your user's story. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree - 5+ years of professional UX research experience - Able to provide 1 or more case studies demonstrating your research process and deliverables. - Candidate must reside in the US, be authorized to work in the US, and work must be performed in the US - Candidate must have resided in the US 3 of the last 5 years - Candidate must be eligible for Federal public trust. Preferred Qualifications - Master’s degree in psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, or related field. - 10+ years of overall professional experience preferred. - Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 Level AA / Section 508 compliance preferred. - Experience in federal contracting or healthcare IT preferred. - Active or past clearance to work with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or the US Department of Health and Human Services. Professional Skills - Complete tasks effectively and on schedule as part of a broader development team. - Participate in an Agile process to learn quickly and iterate on your project's user experience. - Understand research ethics and best practices to protect participants and control bias, including informed consent, personally identifiable information, NDAs, and related concepts. - Understanding of usability and accessibility including heuristic and expert methods. - Strong research skills in at least one branch of research such as qualitative, quantitative, and design-based methods. - Demonstrate excellent written, visual, and verbal communication. - Ability to work successfully with a cross-functional, diverse, and distributed remote development team. Pay Range The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is: $98,614.00 - $167,644.00

• Set and own the research agenda, define what we research, why, and in what order, in collaboration with Product and Growth leadership. • Design and run structured research programs, including user interviews, usability tests, surveys, diary studies, and in-product feedback mechanisms. • Analyze session recordings, heatmaps, and behavioral data (Clarity, Mixpanel) to identify friction and patterns. • Conduct competitor research to benchmark best practices and identify differentiation opportunities. • Define and track quantitative research metrics, not just qualitative impressions. • Translate findings into clear, prioritized recommendations that product and design can act on immediately. • Help design A/B test hypotheses grounded in user behavior research. • Build and maintain a research repository structured, searchable, and regularly updated. • Proactively identify gaps in analytics instrumentation and work with the data team to fill them. • Help establish research as a core practice in the org, set standards, frameworks, and processes others can follow.

• Lead foundational, problem validation, and strategic research projects across your assigned product areas and beyond • Drive both brand and product research — including buyer persona development, brand perception studies, and digital experience research — that directly informs positioning and messaging • Be the expert on the users within your area of coverage: their behaviours, pain points, workflows, and goals • Make connections across research initiatives, surfacing macro insights that no single study could reveal on its own • Build trusted relationships with Product Design, Product Management, Brand, and Marketing counterparts, guiding them to the right research approach • Advocate for and socialise actionable insights in a clear and compelling way that increases empathy across the organisation • Independently drive research prioritisation across stage groups, balancing impact, product direction, and company objectives • Mentor other researchers and actively shape how the Experience Research team works, through process iteration, documentation, and peer reviews
