Title: Publicity Assistant, Little, Brown Location: New York, New York Department: Publicity Job Description: Description We are seeking a Publicity Assistant to work closely with the Assistant Director of Publicity and Senior Publicity Manager for Little, Brown’s imprints in a very active department with a dynamic publishing program. Please note our hybrid model is 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Report into the Assistant Director of Publicity and Senior Publicity Manager and support a wide array of books across all Little, Brown imprints. • Arrange travel and maintain highly detailed campaign and tour schedules in a very fast-paced environment. • Occasionally attend author events and media interviews in person in NYC or other nearby locations. • Coordinate review mailings from the office and from home when necessary. • Maintain stock of available galleys and review copies in the office and at home when necessary. • Organize and route press materials, PDFs, and other relevant materials. • Help coordinate and execute media campaigns. • Knowledge of or desire to learn about the media landscape, which includes newspapers, magazines, digital news sites, substacks, podcasts, newsletters, and more. • Tracking, reading, assessing and distributing press and media hits. • Organizing and maintaining database of press contacts and researching outlets and contacts as necessary. • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other departments – including liaising with editorial, marketing, sales divisions, etc. • General administrative duties. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: • Effective communication skills (oral & written) for interactions with media, authors, and in-house constituencies. • Detail-oriented and able to follow through on tasks. • Experience arranging schedules/itineraries • Ability to handle expenses, various reports • Undertake applicable research to accompany campaigns • Proven ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines • Ability to work well independently as well as in collaborative team environments • Effective organizational and project management skills. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google suite (especially Drive). Knowledge of Muck Rack, other media databases a plus.
