Position Summary: The Procedural Specialist promotes BD products to customers and potential customers through clinical support and education within a defined geographic area and as directed by the Regional Manager. Essential / Key Job Responsibilities (including supervisory and/or fiscal): - Educate and train physicians, hospital personnel and hospital staff on technical matters relating to BDPI products through case support, conducting and/or coordinating one-on-one in-servicing, and/or available internal/external physician education training programs. - Establishes and maintains relationships with customers, hospitals and physicians. - Obtains new users and applications for company products and services. - Observes and reports market trends which affect BDPI sales, service and product development. - Represents BDPI in accordance with policies and procedures. - Processes customer complaints and returns in accordance with established procedures and policy. - Maintains company automobile and company property. - Complete and processes BDPI reports including but not limited to: Procedural Specialist reports, expense reports, monthly product tracking reports and complaint reports in accordance with established procedures and policies. - Fulfills the duty of a Territory Manager in vacant territories and supports endovascular procedures as directed by the District Manager. Required Qualifications: - Product knowledge and all features and benefits of BDPI product - Surgical and endovascular procedure knowledge, adequate to support clinical cases - Basic anatomy Medical and surgical terminology Preferred Qualifications: - Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in the Operating Room, Interventional Radiology Lab, or Cardiac Cath Lab. - Current credentialing and / or certification in respective clinical discipline. - Advanced knowledge of vascular access management, vascular surgery, and endovascular medicine preferred. - Strong time management skills with an ability to maintain numerous priorities and meet established deadlines. - Self-motivated, takes on additional responsibilities, and manages priorities with minimal supervision. - Frequent travel required. Education and/or Experience: Associates Degree or B.S. in Nursing, Cardiovascular, Radiology, Vascular Surgery or other equivalent technical discipline. • Review medical record documentation and assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnoses and procedure codes • Abstract required data per facility specifications • Monitor accounts that are Discharged Not Final Billed and ensure timely processing of inpatient accounts • Stay updated with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements and Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC) • Maintain competency using 3M encoder, Computer Assisted Coding (CAC), and abstracting systems

• Advanced outpatient coding position that reviews medical record documentation and accurately assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, as well as CPT IV codes based on the specific record type and abstract specific data elements for each case in compliance with federal regulations. • This position codes all types of outpatient visits to include ancillary, urgent care, emergency department, observation, same day surgery, and interventional procedures. • Follows the Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, the American Health Information Management Association, (AHIMA,) Coding Ethics, as well as the American Hospital Association, (AHA) Coding Clinics, CMS directives and Bulletins, Fiscal Intermediary communications. • Utilizing Coding Applications in accordance with established workflow. • Follow Mercy Policies and Procedures and maintains required quality and productivity standards. • Reviews medical record documentation and accurately assigns appropriate ICD-9-CM, ICD-10, CPT IV, and HCPCS codes utilizing the 3M software tools for all OP Work Types (Ancillary, ED Charge/Code, Same Day Surgery, and Observation. • The assigned codes must support the reason for the visit and the medical necessity that is documented by the provider to support the care provided. • When applicable, apply the appropriate charges such as the Evaluation & Management, (E&M) level and injections and infusions, and/or other necessary requirements for Observation cases, using a third-party software systems such as LYNX. • Correctly abstract required data per facility specifications. • Perform "medical necessity checks" for Medicare and other payers as required per payment guidelines. • Responsible for monitoring and working of accounts that are Discharged Not Final Billed, failed claims, stop bills, and premise as a team, ensure timely, compliant processing of outpatient claims in the billing system. • Responsible to maintain established productivity requirements, key performance indicators established for 3M 360 CAC for CRS & Direct Code as well as ensure accuracy to maintain established quality standards. • Remain abreast of current requirements of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, (CMS,) to include National Coverage Determinations, (NCD) and Local Coverage Determinations, (LCD) guidelines, related to the assignment of modifiers, to ensure the submission of a clean claim the first time through. • Maintains competency and accuracy while utilizing tools of the trade, such as the 3M encoder, Computerized Assisted Coding, (CAC,) Medical Necessity software, abstracting system, code books, and all reference materials. • Reports inaccuracies found in Coding Software to HIM Management/Supervisor, reports any potential unethical and/or fraudulent activity per compliance policy. • Follows all established Mercy Health policies and procedures to include abiding by paid time off, (PTO) requirements. • Attends required system, hospital and departmental meetings and educational sessions as established by leadership, as well as completion of required annual learning programs, to ensure continued education and growth. • Training/Mentoring - SMART Responsibilities where applicable.

• Review clinical documentation to assign and sequence diagnostic and procedural codes for specific patient types to meet the requirements of hospital data or physician data retrieval for billing and reimbursement. • Validate APC calculations to accurately capture the diagnoses/procedures documented in the clinical record for hospitals. • Perform documentation review and assessment for accurate abstracting of clinical data to meet regulatory and compliance requirements. • Interact with client staff and providers as needed. • Select and sequence ICD-10, and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for designated patient types including but not limited to: Ancillary (Diagnostic)/ Recurring; Hospital, Clinic; Physician Pro Fee; Technical Fee or Evaluation and Management. • Review and analyze facility records to ensure that APC assignments and/or Evaluation and Management codes accurately reflect the diagnoses/procedures documented in the clinical record. • Complete assigned work functions utilizing appropriate resources. • Maintain strict patient and provider confidentiality in compliance with all HIPAA Guidelines. • Participate in client and Savista staff meetings, trainings, and conference calls as requested and/or required. • Maintain current working knowledge of ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS and coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols and third-party requirements regarding coding and/or billing. • Participate in continuing education activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain current credentials.
