Job Details We’re hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to be a part of one of our core teams building the backend for Openly's insurance platform. You will play an essential role in designing, building, testing, and maintaining the services and technology that power our insurance offering and customer experiences. Key Responsibilities - Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop the core systems and create APIs that power our best-in-class user experiences. - Build out our internal tooling and APIs to make business and engineering processes easier, faster, and safer. - Implement systemic changes to align existing systems with current architectural goals. - Integrate with external services to manage payments, documents, and claims. - Integrate with data providers to source real-time information on hundreds of data points, including property characteristics and risk profiles. - Provide subject matter expertise, mentorship, and support to individuals on your team. - Collaborate on architectural discussions with your team. - Contribute to important architectural and operational decisions like microservices vs. monoliths, deployment techniques, technologies, policies, etc. - Participate in daily stand-ups, weekly 1:1's, and biweekly retros. Role Description Panther is building the AI SOC platform that helps security teams detect and respond faster than attackers. The Context & Data Experience team owns the foundational layer that makes everything else possible — getting the right data in, making it trustworthy, and surfacing environment context that powers every alert, hunt, and investigation. This team helps customers: - Get all their security data into Panther quickly and reliably — from cloud, on-prem, and third-party sources. - Maximize the value of that data through schemas, transformations, and baselines that make it high-signal. - Understand their environment continuously — cloud misconfigurations, asset context, and behavioral baselines that make detections smarter. This role is about making data pipelines feel invisible, context feel instant, and security coverage feel complete. You'll join the Context & Data Experience team and partner closely with engineers and PMs to build the backend systems that power data ingestion, enrichment, and environment context at Panther. This is a backend role focused on the foundational infrastructure that every detection, alert, and investigation depends on. • Develop and enhance Drupal web applications, including custom PHP development, configuration, and CMS administration. • Design, build, and launch new site features and functionality with a focus on performance, reliability, and availability. • Translate responsive design concepts into polished Drupal themes delivering an intuitive, visually compelling user experience. • Create and implement highly visible, user-facing components, including features that incorporate data visualization elements. • Maintain and improve the platform through security patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, testing, and high-quality deployments to the code repository. • Support content operations by helping document, archive, and update website content, ensuring ongoing Section 508 compliance and smooth site operations. • Collaborate closely with developers and team members to ensure solutions are implemented effectively and align with shared standards and goals. • Stay current on Drupal best practices and apply them to improve development quality and maintainability.
