Role Description The course "Introduction to Aging" (GRT1101) will explore aging as a biological, psychological, and sociological phenomenon in a Canadian context, covering the following topics: - Population aging and its economic, political, and social impacts - Links between aging and discrimination, suicide, and other social problems This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Social Work, with an expected enrolment of 244 students. The course will be offered remotely on the following schedule: - Monday: 11:30-13:00 - Thursday: 13:00-14:30 Qualifications - PhD completed or in progress in social sciences with a specialization in gerontology - MA with five years’ experience in the field of gerontology - Teaching experience in gerontology is an asset Requirements - Employees are required under provincial law to successfully complete all mandatory legislated training - An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as equivalent to the educational requirements and/or demonstrated experience Benefits - Hourly Rate: $239.47 (2024-2025) for teaching - These rates do not include vacation pay nor statutory pay - Retro pay will be provided after the ratification of a new collective agreement Company Description The University of Ottawa embraces diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
