Principal Solutions Architect
OpenFn
Role Description We are hiring a Principal Solutions Architect to own solution quality and technical strategy across OpenFn's implementation portfolio, taking responsibility for technical decisions from pre-sales conversations with prospective customers to final project handover. This role sits at the intersection of enterprise architecture, integration design, and implementation leadership. You will: - Learn the OpenFn platform inside and out, its capabilities, its limits, and how to apply it well. - Guide implementation teams delivering workflow automation and interoperability solutions for government ministries, health systems, and large NGOs. - Be the first port of call for engineers and consultants when technical challenges arise in integration pipelines, local deployments, or solution design. - Bridge knowledge gaps, resolve problems, and mentor the team in their work. - Establish best practices in code quality, working methods, and engineering approach. - Help build institutional knowledge that makes the whole team stronger over time. Qualifications - 10-15+ years of experience in solution architecture, systems integration, or technical implementation leadership. - Demonstrated expertise with integration platforms, middleware, or workflow automation tools. - Strong JavaScript / Node.js proficiency and experience with backend development and API integration patterns. - Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. - Experience in a consulting or professional services context. - Ability to operate effectively in lean, distributed teams. - Familiarity with interoperability standards in global health or humanitarian systems. - Experience with DevOps practices in low-resource or sovereign-hosting contexts. - Background working with digital public goods, open source, or government digital transformation programs. - Working proficiency in French or Spanish is a bonus. Requirements - Own technical architecture across the services portfolio, from pre-contract scoping through delivery. - Lead solution design for OpenFn-centered interoperability engagements. - Consult directly with government and NGO technical counterparts on OpenFn solution design. - Set and uphold the technical quality bar across the services portfolio. - Develop internal standards and guidelines for OpenFn implementations. - Mentor engineers and consultants in JavaScript competence and systems-level integration thinking. - Define and oversee deployment strategies for government clients hosting OpenFn. Role Description We are looking for a hands-on Airflow & AWS Platform Support engineer who keeps data pipelines and ML workloads running reliably in production, manages access and costs, and enables data teams to build safely. - Apache Airflow, AWS (S3, EMR and Bedrock) Administrator: - Strong experience in Airflow DAG monitoring, including tracking task states, resolving DAG execution delays, and ensuring reliability across distributed environments. - Expertise in failure recovery, including retry strategies, SLA miss handling, backfilling, re-running failed task instances, and ensuring consistent pipeline execution across environments. - Hands-on experience providing SLA-based job execution support, ensuring time-critical pipelines meet business deadlines and production SLAs are continuously maintained. - Skilled in performing root cause analysis (RCA) for pipeline failures, including dependency failures, task-level exceptions, scheduler issues, and platform-level bottlenecks. - Experience in managing S3 storage optimization, including lifecycle policies, intelligent tiering, storage class transitions, versioning, and cost-effective data retention strategies. - Expertise in securing S3 environments using IAM policies, bucket policies, encryption (KMS), access logging, and object-level permissions. - Skilled in conducting cost usage analysis for S3 storage and recommending optimization strategies to reduce operational spend. - Strong background in administering Amazon EMR clusters, including cluster provisioning, configuration, autoscaling, and lifecycle management. - Experience supporting Amazon Bedrock environments, including model endpoint configuration, invocation monitoring, access control, and cost governance.
