Role Description We’re looking for a Senior Director of Marketing to lead our marketing function—owning narrative, content, and product marketing—while guiding a high-performing team responsible for demand generation and marketing operations. This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping how Packback shows up in the market. You will own positioning, messaging, content strategy, and go-to-market execution, while managing a lean team that drives pipeline generation and marketing performance. You’ll operate as both a strategic leader and a hands-on contributor—developing core narratives, building content engines, and ensuring our marketing efforts translate into measurable growth. What you'll own - Marketing Strategy & Pipeline Oversight - Own overall marketing strategy and performance across the funnel - Set direction for demand generation programs while empowering team members to execute - Ensure alignment between messaging, campaigns, and target audiences - Partner with Sales and RevOps to align on ICP, funnel stages, and pipeline performance - Product Marketing & Positioning (Core Focus) - Own Packback’s narrative in the market, especially around AI in higher education - Define and evolve positioning, messaging, and differentiation across products and audiences - Partner with Product and Sales to bring new features and solutions to market - Ensure messaging is grounded in real customer outcomes (engagement, retention, AI literacy) - Content and Thought Leadership - Build and scale Packback’s content engine across formats (eBooks, webinars, research, blog, events) - Establish Packback as a category leader in Instructional AI - Develop compelling, insight-driven content that drives awareness and supports conversion - Amplify executive and customer voices to build credibility in the market - Customer Marketing & Proof - Lead development of customer stories, testimonials, and case studies - Partner with Customer Success and Sales to capture and package outcomes - Turn customer insights into high-impact marketing and sales assets - Team Leadership & Execution - Manage and develop two direct reports: Demand Generation & Marketing Operations - Provide strategic direction while maintaining high standards for execution and accountability - Coach team members to improve performance across campaigns, systems, and reporting - Step in as a hands-on contributor when needed across messaging, campaigns, and launches What Success Looks Like - Clear, differentiated positioning in the market - A consistent and scalable content engine that drives awareness and engagement - Strong alignment between product, marketing, and sales narratives - High-quality pipeline driven by effective messaging and campaigns - A high-performing, accountable marketing team with clear ownership and results What We're Looking For - Experience - 8–12+ years in B2B SaaS marketing, with experience across product marketing and content strategy - Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation tools (Salesforce, HubSpot) - Proven ability to define positioning and bring products to market effectively - Experience building or evolving a brand and positioning within an emerging or competitive category - Experience leveraging customer insights and voice-of-customer data to inform messaging, positioning, and content - Experience hiring, developing, and managing high-performing marketing teams - Experience leading or overseeing demand generation and pipeline performance - Background in EdTech, higher education, or mission-driven SaaS is a strong plus - Skills & Mindset - Strong product marketing instincts with the ability to translate complexity into clear value - Experience building and scaling content and thought leadership programs - Hands-on approach: comfortable writing, shaping messaging, and guiding execution - Analytical enough to understand funnel performance and connect marketing to revenue - Strong cross-functional collaborator across Product, Sales, RevOps, and Customer Success - Leadership - Experience managing small, high-performing teams - Ability to set direction while staying close to the work - Comfortable leading through influence and driving alignment across functions Additional Information - Sponsorship: Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without the need for sponsorship.
