Senior Process Control Engineer

Role Description We are looking for an experienced Process Engineer specializing in Process Control to support the safe and efficient operation of our oil and gas facilities. This is a unique opportunity to shape and strengthen process control capability. You will play a key role in developing and optimizing the process control philosophy during the engineering phase, ensuring robust, safe, and efficient operations. The primary location for this role is Oslo (Fornebu), Norway, but we also welcome candidates based elsewhere in Europe, particularly in the UK, Italy, and France. Key Responsibilities - Develop, implement, and optimize process control strategies for oil and gas production and processing facilities - Prepare and maintain process control documentation, including control narratives, Cause & Effect charts, and P&IDs - Act as a checker for SCDs and logic diagrams produced by others - Support facility startups, shutdowns, and commissioning activities - Support process safety initiatives, including alarm management, safety instrumented systems (SIS), and HAZOP recommendations - Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and company safety policies - Support continuous improvement initiatives - Collaborate with suppliers and clients on the development of documentation to ensure robust process control systems are in place - Act as a link between the Process Engineering team and the Instrumentation team Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related engineering discipline - 8–15 years of experience in process engineering and process control in oil & gas - Solid understanding of process control principles and PID loop tuning, with a strong emphasis on overall system behavior and understanding - Understanding of how process properties influence process control - Fluent in English Requirements - Ability to analyze and discuss process control challenges, including evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of different solutions - Experience troubleshooting production systems such as MEG, TEG, PWT, and water injection is an advantage - Experience with non-continuous processes (e.g., filtration or centrifugation) and their integration with continuous systems such as MEG units is an advantage Soft Skills - Proactive and independent mindset - Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and responsibility for outcomes - Curious, innovative, and solution-oriented Benefits - Autonomy & influence – shape standards, solutions, and ways of working - Project exposure – contribute to major long-term projects - Growth potential – opportunity to expand scope over time - Hands-on engineering environment – from concept to startup and troubleshooting
