The Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Management will lead and oversee the Firm’s data management capabilities across key platforms and business systems. This role is responsible for establishing data governance practices, improving data quality, enabling secure and compliant data access, and partnering with business and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable data products (e.g., reporting, analytics, integrations, and master/reference data). The Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Management manages priorities and budgets for data initiatives, coordinates vendors and internal teams, and ensures that data services align with Firm objectives and risk requirements. Substantial interaction and proficiency with the Firm’s AI systems, such as Harvey and Copilot is a requirement. This position reports to the Chief Information Officer and collaborates with Finance, HR, Client Development, Risk and Information Governance, legal practices and other teams across the organization. The ideal candidate is a customer-focused professional with strong data and systems expertise who can deliver trusted outcomes to the Firm. This is a full-time, remote, exempt position, that can be based out of one of the Firm’s Texas locations: Houston, Dallas, or Austin. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Manage a team of data and technology professionals; provide guidance, feedback, and coaching - Measure outcomes through data quality, timeliness/freshness, adoption, usage, incident reduction, and stakeholder satisfaction - Ensure the availability, performance, security, and scalability of data platforms, integrations, and data pipelines - Plan and execute data initiatives (data quality, master/reference data and integrations) in alignment with business goals and priorities - Manage the data program and platform budget; optimize the cost and value of data investments - Work with stakeholders (Finance, HR, Client Development, IT as well as practice teams, vendors, and customers) to gather requirements, define data definitions, and deliver trusted data solutions - Facilitate communication and reporting to leadership on the status, issues, risks, and outcomes of data management activities - Plan and facilitate data project meetings and working sessions to align stakeholders on definitions, scope, milestones, and delivery - Identify and act on opportunities for self-improvement, both professionally and technically, including training in data management, governance, and enabling technologies - Work with team members to present and cross-train on data standards, reporting, data quality practices, and platform capabilities - Participate in after-hours support for data platform and integration incidents as needed - Maintain knowledge of data management, analytics, and governance trends; collaborate and share with the technical community - Other duties and responsibilities - Provide leadership with project briefings and root cause analyses of data incidents (quality issues, pipeline failures, reporting discrepancies, and access problems) - Keep up with emerging data management, integration, and analytics technologies - Other projects and duties as assigned by Chief Information Officer - Core Competencies - Strong communication skills, both oral and written - Strong work ethic and ability to maintain strict confidentiality - Ability to work well with internal and external clients - Strong organizational skills, attention to detail - Manage capital and operational yearly budgets and quarterly forecasts - Customer-service focused - Knowledge and Skills - 5+ years of technical experience demonstrating success in data management, data integration, reporting/analytics enablement, and troubleshooting of complex data issues required - Experience managing stakeholder relationships and expectations; driving consensus on data definitions, priorities, and delivery required - Demonstrated ability to solve business problems through appropriate data architecture, governance, and integration approaches required - A desire to drive decisions and reach business goals collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow-through with exceptional verbal and written communication skills required - Ability to orchestrate, lead, and influence project teams, ensuring successful implementation of customer projects required - Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort to tailor and communicate content appropriately to both large and small audiences (Senior Executives, IT management, IT staff, end-users) required - Enterprise-scale technical experience with data platforms, data modeling, integrations, and technology management required - Demonstrated end-to-end understanding of enterprise data flows across business applications, including integrating and rationalizing data sources for consistent reporting required - Experience supporting data, reporting, and integrations for major enterprise systems, including those prevalent in the legal/professional services industries (e.g. iManage, Aderant, Intapp, etc.) required - Ability to maintain a positive attitude and demeanor and strong customer service skills under busy conditions and short deadlines required - Exceptional technical and analytical skills preferred - Ability to adapt well to change, and to grasp new ideas quickly and a self-driven initiative to learn new technologies - Strong attention to detail required - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred - Self-driven initiative to conduct external research to resolve difficult technical issues required - Ability to track and ensure success of multiple simultaneous projects required - Commitment to achieving the firm’s Service Level Agreement(s) required - Work as part of a cohesive team; Working Condition and Environment - Position requires 24x7 escalation support - Position is full-time and requires a five-day work week and standard hours as outlined in the Firm policy manual (additional hours, including weekend and evening hours may be required to perform the essential functions of the job) - This position is fully remote however, you may be required to come to the office periodically for team meetings or when there is a business or client need (this will require that you live within a commuting distance of a Baker Botts US office location and that you will allow you to commute into the office on relatively short notice) - When working remotely, you must have secure and reliable internet service and a safe, private workspace from which to work - Unusual work hours will be required at times, depending upon circumstances - Must be available to work throughout the calendar year including weekends and holidays depending on the business need.
