• Experience working on Mobile-focused BFFs (Backend-for-Frontend) • Design and develop scalable, resilient backend solutions using Java; • Ensure code quality with a focus on maintainability and performance; • Promote software engineering best practices, including TDD, BDD, DDD and Clean Code; • Perform code reviews and optimizations, engage in pair programming and provide mentoring to the team; • Collaborate with business areas to translate complex rules into efficient implementations; • Promote dissemination of technical knowledge and provide support to development teams; • Guide and establish technical guidelines for requirements gathering with clients; • Take technical ownership of backend-related issues across projects and products; • Ensure technical project documentation and application security; • Propose solutions autonomously, contributing to decision-making at different leadership levels; • Facilitate consensus-building in high-complexity technical decisions, fostering collaboration and alignment among developer teams.
Job Requirements
- Strong experience in software development;
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java 8+;
- Experience creating software components for development platforms;
- Advanced knowledge of Spring Boot framework;
- Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes, Jenkins/GitLab CI, and AWS Cloud;
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MongoDB/Redis);
- Advanced knowledge of messaging systems (Kafka and RabbitMQ);
- Knowledge of design patterns and microservices;
- Familiarity with agile practices and development methodologies;
- Bachelor's degree completed or in progress, preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or related fields.

Role Description Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable backend services that support and enhance BASF Coatings’ internal and external applications. - Work in an agile, self‑organized team and collaborate effectively with colleagues. - Develop new backend functionality using Java and Spring Boot, following modern backend engineering principles and best practices. - Maintain and improve existing backend services, ensuring performance, reliability, and long‑term maintainability. - Design, implement, and evolve RESTful APIs and service interfaces to enable seamless integration with frontend applications and other systems. - Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in line with team coding standards and industry best practices. - Contribute actively to planning, refinement, reviews, operations, and continuous improvement activities within the team. - Collaborate closely with frontend developers to ensure smooth data flows, clear API contracts, and consistent end‑to‑end behavior. - Implement and maintain unit, integration, and component tests to ensure high quality, stability, and regression prevention. - Share responsibility for operations and maintenance as part of the team’s DevOps mindset, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization. - (Nice to have) Show interest in frontend technologies such as Angular and full‑stack development, with opportunities to collaborate across the stack if desired. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable practical experience. - Around 3-5 years of professional experience with Java (≥ 21) and building backend applications in production environments. - Strong hands‑on experience with Spring Boot (3.x) and core Spring modules such as Spring Data, Spring Integration, Spring Batch, and Spring Security. - Solid understanding of persistence technologies, including JPA 2 / Hibernate, and designing robust data access layers. - Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining RESTful APIs for microservice‑based systems. - Good knowledge of SQL databases, ideally PostgreSQL, including data modeling and query optimization. - Experience writing unit and integration tests (e.g., JUnit or similar frameworks) to ensure code quality and stability. - Familiarity with microservice and cloud architectures, including service communication and API‑based integration. - Experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker; exposure to Kubernetes is a plus. - Proficiency with JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA or comparable Java IDEs. - Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban) and working in agile development teams. - Strong communication skills in Spanish and English, both verbal and written.
