Job Description
Sales Director
Matchnode
Role Description We’re hiring our first non-founder sales leader to own new business development and help transition Matchnode away from founder-led sales. This is a net-new logo role. You will run the sales motion end to end, from first conversation through close, and then hand off accounts to our account management team once a deal is signed. You’ll work closely with our founders early on and gradually take full ownership of the sales process, bringing in subject-matter experts from strategy, media, creative, or technical teams as needed to support discovery and closing. This is a consultative, high-trust sales role selling professional services, not a transactional or high-volume outbound role. What You’ll Do - Own net-new business development for Matchnode - Run the full sales cycle: - Inbound lead qualification - Discovery and needs assessment - Proposal development - Closing - Co-lead discovery calls with founders initially, then operate independently - Pull in the right internal teammates to support technical, creative, or strategic discussions - Manage an active pipeline and consistently close new business - Balance closing active deals with targeted prospecting when pipeline is light - Work within (and help refine) Matchnode’s sales process and positioning - Ensure clean handoffs to account management with clear scope and expectations - Represent Matchnode professionally and credibly with senior marketing and growth leaders in healthcare What Success Looks Like At 12 months, success means: - You’re running the sales motion almost entirely independently - Founder involvement is optional and strategic, not required - You’re consistently closing ~4 new deals per quarter - Deal quality, scope discipline, and close rates are at or above where they are today - The sales process is repeatable, documented, and no longer founder-dependent - You’re positioned to eventually build or lead a sales function as the company grows Qualifications - Have a proven track record in B2B sales, ideally selling professional services or agency work - Are comfortable selling six-figure annual engagements with longer sales cycles - Know how to run discovery, qualify rigorously, and walk away from bad-fit deals - Understand digital marketing well enough to sell it credibly: - Paid media (Meta, Google, etc.) - Creative strategy and testing - Analytics and performance measurement - Don’t need to be the technical expert, but know how to ask the right questions - Are genuinely interested in healthcare and digital health - Care about mission, outcomes, and doing the work the right way - Are comfortable using modern tools, including AI, to improve prospecting, research, and sales efficiency - Want to be part of a growing agency where you can make a real impact Who This Role Is Not For - This role is probably not a fit if you: - Are early in your sales career or just getting started - Prefer high-volume outbound or script-driven sales - Are only comfortable selling transactional or productized offerings - Want to manage accounts long-term instead of handing them off - Aren’t interested in learning healthcare or digital health nuances - Need a fully built sales machine handed to you on day one Compensation - This role offers a competitive base salary plus performance-based commission. - Target On-Target Earnings (OTE): competitive for senior agency sales roles - Base salary plus variable compensation - Commission paid monthly as client revenue is collected - Higher commissions on non-referred deals; reduced commissions on referred deals - Uncapped upside for strong performance - We’ll share full compensation details during the interview process. Why This Role Matters This is a pivotal hire for Matchnode. You’ll be the first person to truly take sales ownership outside of the founders and help shape how we grow over the next several years. If you want to build something meaningful, sell work you believe in, and have real influence over how a business scales, this role offers that opportunity.
