Senior Scoping Analyst locations USA - Remote time type Full time job requisition id R11677 The Senior Scoping Analyst is a strategic pre-sales professional who bridges the gap between Sales and Delivery by translating complex client objectives into executable, high-margin SaaS implementation plans. This role drives consultative discovery and rigorous commercial architecture to ensure all sold solutions are operationally viable and technically sound. Focused entirely on the pre-sales phase, you will balance client goals with risk mitigation and project margins without engaging in post-sale implementation. What You’ll Do - Consultative Discovery & Requirements Gathering: Lead pre-sales discovery sessions to uncover client business objectives, define the problem statement, and establish clear, feasible project requirements - Commercial Architecture & Risk Mitigation: Architect comprehensive Statements of Work (SOWs) that translate client business needs into executable project plans. Establish clear project boundaries by rigorously defining deliverables, out-of-scope exclusions, technical assumptions, and objective acceptance criteria to protect project margins and prevent downstream scope creep - Data-Driven Project Estimation: Translate high-level client requirements into detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and utilize estimation tools/calculators to accurately forecast the level of effort, project duration, and resource requirements - Service Engineering & Delivery Handoff: Treat scoping as a strategic bridge between Sales and Delivery. Ensure that all proposed solutions are structurally sound, feasible, and ready for a seamless handoff to services organization - Contract Negotiation & Deal Desk Liaison: Act as the strategic liaison between Sales, Legal, and Delivery teams during contract negotiations. Navigate SOW redlines and facilitate Deal Desk reviews to align client expectations with corporate risk tolerances - Workiva Solution Validation: Leverage your knowledge of the Workiva platform to validate technical solutions within the scoping process, ensuring they align with client needs for financial reporting, ESG, or GRC - Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the central point of contact for a matrixed team, including Sales executives, Legal counsel, Finance, and technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) - Quality Assurance & Process Adaptation: Validate and endorse technical solutions within proposals to ensure alignment with the initial implementation strategy. Continuously improve Scoping techniques and tools to support increasingly complex global projects What You’ll Need Minimum Qualifications - Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience - 4+ years of experience in professional services, pre-sales, scoping, implementation, or technical consulting within the SaaS industry Preferred Qualifications - Domain & Platform Expertise: Strong background in Audit, GRC, ESG, or corporate financial reporting, with highly preferred experience in the Workiva platform - Technical Scoping: Experience in SaaS service solutions or process design consulting, with the proven ability to validate the technical components of a Statement of Work (SOW) - Commercial Operations: Proficiency in Salesforce, CPQ, or estimation tools, with a background in formal bid management, proposal writing, and contract negotiation - Strategic Acumen: Deep understanding of how pre-sales scoping impacts delivery margins, project execution, and long-term customer success - Analytical Problem Solving: An inquisitive mindset capable of independent data analysis to identify underlying issues and create scalable, multi-factor solutions - Collaboration & Influence: Adept at building internal networks and liaising with senior leadership across Sales, Legal, and Delivery to mitigate risk and resolve conflicts - Proven Success: A track record of high-accuracy project estimations that prevent scope creep and ensure seamless handoffs to PMO/Delivery teams - Multilingual Skills: Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a strong plus - Must be able to work standard West Coast Pacific Time/Mountain Time business hours to support regional scoping requests. This is a non-negotiable requirement, though the role may be based remotely anywhere within the US Travel Requirements & Working Conditions - Standard daily schedule must align with Pacific Time (PT) business hours. - Willingness to travel up to 25% for team, corporate, or customer meetings. - Reliable internet access for any period of time while working remotely.
