NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and other professional skills that support the Bureau of Land Management through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). This position supports the Bureau of Land Management HQ 260 WHB Office. This is an remote position. Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee. PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. Qualifications: PhD Degree in DVM and Doctorate in Epidemiology with minimum additional experience of 20 year(s) in Veterinarian Policy & Strategic Planning 20 years experience as a veterinarian & expertise with epidemiology with WHB and Training Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams, MS SharePoint Duties: Support BLM HQ 260 Leadership in efforts related to implementing strategy and policy, streamlining processes, and general support for BLM responses specifically related to health and welfare of wild horses and burros. Support, update, and at times coordinate implementation of strategy and policy activities 45% Lead efforts designated by BLM WHB leadership re: business functions and admin planning 20% General support for WHB responses 15% Identify steps to streamline processes and actions within BLM HQ260 15% Other related duties/activities as warranted and prioritized 5% Other: Defensive Driving and WHB CAWP Overnight travel: Occasional to assess WHB disease outbreaks at BLM facilities or assess animal health and welfare concerns in a State. Air travel anticipated: Occasionally and is not predictable since travel would only be for unpredictable situations regarding WHB health and welfare and provide expert advise and assist the BLM in after action reviews to assess if policies need modified to prevent such things. Health and Safety Considerations: Review of relevant Risk Management Worksheets Physical requirements: Work will be primarily sedentary, working at a computer. Site visits may require walking over uneven surfaces outside in a variety of weather situations.
