Role Description As a Career Services Advisor at CIAT, you will play a pivotal role in assisting students and alumni in their career development and job search efforts. Your responsibilities will include: - Career Counseling: Provide one-on-one career advising sessions to students and alumni, helping them identify their strengths, interests, and career goals. Offer guidance on resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies. - Job Placement Assistance: Collaborate with employers and organizations, both locally and nationally, to create job opportunities for our students and alumni. Facilitate career fairs, networking events, and workshops to connect students with potential employers. - LinkedIn Profile Reviews: Conduct LinkedIn profile reviews and assist individuals in optimizing their online professional presence, including recommendations for networking and industry-specific groups. - Resource Development: Create and maintain a comprehensive database of job listings, internships, and career resources. Stay updated on industry trends and job market demands to provide relevant information to students. Knowledge of Handshake a plus. - Program Development: Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement career-related programs, workshops, and seminars that enhance the employability skills of our students. - Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records within Dynamics of career advising sessions, job placements, and other relevant data to track the success of our career services programs. - Accreditation Expectations: Maintains and analyzes a list of all students with Graduation and Placement. Collects appropriate placement forms in order to meet ACCET completion and placement requirements. - Professional Development: Stay current on trends in career advising, attend relevant conferences, and participate in ongoing training to enhance your expertise. - Interdepartmental Collaboration: Supports the appropriate academic, student services and admissions advising staff to provide pre-college, transitional, and college and career readiness advising services to students/people in the areas supervised. - Adhere to CIAT’s compliance requirements to ensure all Federal, State, accreditation, and institutional policies and procedures are being met. - Follow communication guidelines to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and professionalism. - Embody CIAT’s mission, vision, purpose and value. Qualifications - 2+ years experience in career counseling, advising, placement, or related fields - Knowledge of career development theories, assessment tools, vocational school placement expectations - Familiarity with resume writing, interview coaching, and job search strategies - Proficiency in using career services software and online job platforms - Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in career advising - Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. - Must have a positive and friendly attitude. - Skillful in Microsoft Office, email, internet, and other computer related areas. - Detail oriented, outstanding research and analytical skills. - Work independently with minimal supervision. - Process tasks in a timely manner. - Capability to handle confidential and sensitive information, following confidentiality guidelines. - Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, academic departments, and administration to support student success, achieve institutional goals and contribute to a positive and inclusive culture. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. - Team player with a can-do attitude. - Exhibits a high degree of flexibility in adapting to a rapidly changing environment. - Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours to accommodate business needs and deadlines. - Flexible to work longer hours to meet deadlines, if needed. - Able to handle sensitive information with a high degree of confidentiality. - Possess high ethical standards, being an example of professionalism to others. - Must be able to embody CIAT’s mission, vision, purpose and values. Benefits - The starting salary for the Career Services Advisor position is $28.00-$31.00 hourly/DOE. - We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, experience, equity and other business and organizational needs.
