Senior Electrical Design Engineer

• Lead the design and development of transformers or related components ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and customer specifications • Conduct advanced engineering analyses to optimize product performance, cost, and efficiency addressing complex design challenges • Perform and oversee failure analysis on design-related issues identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability • Provide technical leadership in design reviews guiding decisions and ensuring alignment with project objectives and customer requirements • Mentor and guide junior engineers by offering technical expertise support and development opportunities • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing quality assurance supply chain sales and customer service to ensure successful integration of designs into production • Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation including design specifications test plans and technical reports • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and ensure competitive product designs • Lead continuous improvement initiatives promoting innovation and efficiency in design processes and methodologies
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- More than 8 years of experience in Electrical Engineering with a focus on transformer or related product design
- Proven ability to lead design projects from concept to production
- Advanced proficiency with design and analysis tools including electrical and thermal analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks)
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., VB .Net, C++, SQL) and database management tools (e.g., MySQL)
- Ability to interact with, maintain, and update ERP system data related to engineering processes
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (e.g. DOE) for transformers and related components
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers
- Excellent problem-solving abilities capable of addressing complex technical challenges independently
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities
- Experience conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions for design-related issues

Internship Overview This internship offers mechanical engineering students hands-on experience in HVAC and building systems design using BIM tools like Revit and AutoCAD. Interns will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining exposure to the full lifecycle of MEP projects—from concept through construction. Role Description As a Lead Design Engineer, you will oversee the development and analysis of complex technical products, processes, and systems. • Provide creative technology design support, in partnership with XTG Creative Technologists, for XTG and their partners • Translate customer requirements of XTG Creative Technologist or Creative Partner vision into functional system designs and proposals • Communicate design intent with hand sketches, electronic drawings, renderings, diagrams, outlines, storyboards, and/or narratives • Take ownership of problem-solving • Develop engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculations, and facilitate coordination with other disciplines and trades • Review pre-construction design and documentation • Assist with technical design pricing and identify any logistical challenges • Generate functional system descriptions and block diagrams • Provide engineering support to project installation team when needed • Serve as Customer liaison for engineering inquiries • Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate products and identify new creative technologies • Post sales project consultation • Review and validate the work of lower-level Design Engineers • Support of meetings outside of local time zones is required (approximately 20 times per year)
