Senior DS Engineer – Fiber
General Dynamics
• Provides technical expertise to modernize network design and implementation supporting multiple Air Force and Space Force bases globally. • Provides solutions to problems and guidance to less experienced field engineers. • Conduct end-to-end testing of fiber optic cables using OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), power meters, and other tools. • Provides recommendations and solutions resulting from equipment assessments and checkups. • Provides training to internal and external groups on product features and specifications. • Stengthens and builds client relationships by improving interaction with products. • Review the work of less experienced team members. • Execution - Coordinate with Government Points of Contact (POCs) to coordinate design, installation, base access, clearance, escorts, personnel and equipment to ensure project tasks can be completed on time.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in DS Engineering with focus on Fiber Splicing and Fiber Testing
- Extensive background in fiber splicing and testing using Fluke Versiv power meter and OTDR
- Familiarity with distribution systems (ISP/OSP) design and Implementation documents such as – Site Survey Reports, Preliminary and Critical Design documentation, As-built diagrams, rack elevations and circuit connectivity matrices
- Familiar with all aspects of fiber testing
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institute in an area applicable to this position
- Equivalent years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
