Magnite
Senior Engineer Developer Experience (DX) Team New York City, NY Boston, MA Broomfield, CO Hybrid Schedule (M/F remote, T/W/TH in-office) East Coast - Remote At Magnite, we cultivate an environment of continuous growth and collaboration. Our work impacts what millions of people read, watch, and buy, and we’re looking for people to help us tackle that responsibility with creativity and focus. Magnite (NASDAQ: MGNI) is the world’s largest independent sell-side advertising platform. Publishers use our technology to monetize their content across all screens and formats including CTV / streaming, online video, display, and audio. Our tech fuels billions of transactions per day! About this team: We’re the Developer Experience (DX) team at Magnite. Our mission is to make engineers faster, safer, and happier shipping production software by improving the tools, platforms, workflows, and shared engineering capabilities used across the company. The team reduces friction in both the inner loop of development—build, test, run, debug, including CI/CD, releases, observability, reliability, and engineering standards. We build shared platforms, reusable tooling, paved paths, and reference implementations that help teams move faster with less bespoke plumbing and higher confidence. In this role you will: Join the Developer Experience (DX) team as a Senior Engineer. This leverage role is for an engineer passionate about multiplying the effectiveness of others through improved tooling, automation, libraries, and workflows. You will design and build shared engineering capabilities used across Magnite, with a strong focus on AI-enabled development, platform tooling, and developer productivity. Comfort working with Java, Python and Typescript. Rust knowledge is a strong plus. You must bring hands-on experience with modern AI providers and engineering tools such as Cursor, Claude, Codex, and related ecosystems. You will partner with engineering teams and leadership to identify high-friction workflows, build scalable solutions, and drive adoption through clear documentation and enablement. This is not a feature-delivery role for a single product team; it is a leverage role focused on improving how engineering gets done across the organization. Developer Platform & Tooling - Design, build, and maintain shared developer tooling and platform capabilities that improve engineering productivity across teams. - Collaborate with SRE and engineering teams to design and deliver reusable solutions for common development needs, including service scaffolding, local development workflows, CI/CD patterns, automation, and release tooling. - Improve the developer experience across the software lifecycle, from code authoring and testing through deployment and supportability. AI-Enabled Engineering - Evaluate, integrate, and operationalize AI tools and workflows—using various providers, APIs, SDKs, third party solutions, and agent-style tools—to improve engineering output, quality, knowledge access, and delivery speed. - Identify and build high-value use cases for AI in software development, such as code generation, code review assistance, documentation, migration support, and internal developer assistants. - Help define safe, effective patterns for adopting AI in day-to-day engineering work. Shared Engineering Capabilities - Build and evolve shared libraries, utilities, reference implementations, and templates (e.g., for configuration, logging, telemetry, resilience, and engineering standards) to reduce duplicated effort across teams. - Design solutions that are maintainable, observable, secure, and easy for partner teams to adopt. Standards, Enablement, and Adoption - Partner with engineering teams to understand friction points and translate them into scalable solutions. - Produce high-quality documentation, examples, migration guides, and adoption playbooks that enable self-service. - Support adoption through design collaboration, pairing, and time-boxed engagements where needed. - Promote standards through useful paved roads and working solutions, minimizing process overhead or gatekeeping. Quality, Reliability, and Measurement - Ensure DX-owned tooling and shared components are reliable, secure, observable, and well supported. - Use data to measure impact, including build/test performance, adoption, reliability, and engineering satisfaction. - Continuously improve solutions based on developer feedback, operational signals, and usage patterns. We’re looking for someone with: - 4+ years of professional software engineering experience and a strong track record of building production-grade systems, tooling, or shared platforms. - Strong proficiency in Java and Python, including writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code and designing reusable abstractions. - Hands-on experience building developer tooling, internal platforms, shared libraries, automation, or productivity-focused engineering solutions. - Strong practical experience with modern AI providers, models, and APIs (e.g., Cursor, Claude, Codex). Must demonstrate experience translating AI capabilities into concrete engineering outcomes, such as developer workflows, assistants, automation, or knowledge-enabled tooling. - Strong software design and systems thinking, with the ability to balance flexibility, standardization, usability, and long-term maintainability. - Experience with CI/CD systems, build tooling, developer workflows, and release automation. - Familiarity with observability practices, including logs, metrics, tracing, and operational readiness. - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and influence through clarity, practicality, and technical credibility. In NY, MA, and the East Coast, the base salary range for this role is $155,000 – $165,000. In CO, the base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $150,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on location, experience, skills, and internal equity. This role is also eligible for: - Annual performance-based bonus - Equity (NASDAQ: MGNI) - Comprehensive benefits package During the interview process, candidates will receive more specific information about the salary range applicable to their experience and location. Perks and Benefits: - Comprehensive Healthcare Coverage from Day One - Generous Time Off - Holiday Breaks and Quarterly Wellness Days - Equity and Employee Stock Purchase Plan - Family-Focused Benefits and Parental Leave - 401k Retirement Savings Plan with Employer Match - Disability and Life Insurance - Cell Phone Subsidy - Monthly Fitness and Reimbursement Career Growth: We support internal mobility, skill development, and leadership pathways through structured career frameworks and learning programs. Role Description As a Developer Relations Engineer, you will be the face and voice of Qdrant in the heart of the world’s most active AI ecosystem. You are part engineer, part educator, and part community builder. Your mission is to empower developers to build sophisticated AI applications using Qdrant through high-quality content, world-class demos, and authentic community engagement. This is an individual contributor role with ~60% hands-on technical work and ~40% community, content, and speaking. - Master the Modern AI Stack: Move beyond being a "user" of AI to becoming an expert in the underlying infrastructure (Vector Search, Rust-based performance, and RAG architecture). - Build an Elite Network: Represent Qdrant at the highest levels of the SF tech scene, collaborating with founders and engineers from LlamaIndex, CrewAI, Google DeepMind, Mistral AI, Neo4j, and more. - Establish Thought Leadership: We provide the stage. You will be supported in speaking at premier conferences and publishing content that reaches hundreds of thousands of developers globally. - Shape the Product: Act as the direct link between the developer community and our core engineering team, directly influencing our roadmap and feature set. Responsibilities - Building Demos: Develop and maintain open-source "showcase" applications. You’ll build end-to-end RAG pipelines, recommendation engines, and innovative AI search tools that demonstrate Qdrant's power. - Applied Innovation: Conduct research into emerging AI patterns (e.g., Long-context RAG, Agentic workflows) to prototype new Qdrant use cases. You will experiment with cutting-edge embedding models and indexing techniques to define the next "killer app" for vector search. - Content Creation: Produce educational resources that make complex concepts accessible. This includes writing deep-dive technical blog posts, recording video tutorials, and crafting clear, useful tutorials. - Technical Events: Lead Qdrant’s presence at hackathons and workshops, from organizing our own challenges to mentoring developers in the middle of the night as they build their MVPs. - Public Speaking: Deliver compelling presentations and live coding sessions at conferences and workshops that inspire developers to rethink what's possible with vector search. - Community & Social Engagement: Actively participate in the AI developer community on platforms like Discord, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, and GitHub. Be the "first responder" to technical questions and a champion for developer needs internally. - Local Leadership: Host and participate in local and regional meetups, technical mixers, and industry conferences. You will be the primary contact for the local AI scene. Qualifications - Technical Depth: You have a strong coding background in Python, Rust, Typescript, or Go and a genuine fascination with vector search, embeddings, and LLMs. - Communication Mastery: You can explain the "how" and the "why" of technical architecture with clarity and enthusiasm, whether in writing or on stage. - Local Presence: You are already plugged into (or eager to lead) the local tech community. You thrive in the high-energy environment of the AI engineering scene. - Creative Mindset: You don't just follow tutorials; you create them. You enjoy finding creative ways to show off technical features through code and storytelling. - Autonomy & Empathy: You are a self-starter who can work independently while maintaining deep empathy for the frustrations and successes of the developers you support. Benefits - A remote-first, international team working on cutting-edge AI infrastructure. - A competitive salary with additional perks. - Flexible working hours and async-friendly culture. - High ownership and real impact. - Open-source, engineering-driven culture. - Choose your own laptop equipment. - For US-based candidates, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package including 401k match, health, dental, and vision insurance, plus flexible PTO policy. Recently raising $50M in Series B funding, we are growing rapidly and committed to transforming how AI understands and interacts with data.
