Role Overview: We are looking for a Data Architect to join a strategic client project where architecture design, technology selection, and implementation alignment are critical to success. This is a consulting role for a professional who combines strong architectural thinking with hands-on technical expertise. You will bridge business data requirements, logical and physical data models, cloud platforms (GCP/Azure), and implementation realities. You will be responsible for shaping end-to-end data architecture — from conceptual and logical models, through tooling recommendations, to supporting implementation teams in building scalable, secure, and future-ready data platforms. What You’ll Do: Data Architecture Design - Define target data architecture aligned with business and governance requirements - Design conceptual, logical, and physical data models - Establish data integration patterns (batch, streaming, APIs) - Define data storage, processing, and consumption layers (lake/lakehouse/warehouse paradigms) - Ensure alignment between data architecture and enterprise architecture standards Cloud & Platform Architecture (GCP / Azure) - Design scalable cloud-native data platforms on GCP and/or Azure - Define architecture patterns leveraging services such as: - GCP (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage) - Azure (Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, ADLS, Event Hub) - Ensure security, IAM, data protection, and cost-efficiency principles are embedded - Design DevOps/DataOps approaches for CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code Tooling Recommendations - Assess current data ecosystem and identify architecture gaps - Recommend appropriate tools for ingestion, transformation, storage, metadata, and data quality - Define selection criteria and evaluate vendors/platform components - Ensure tooling decisions align with scalability, governance, and long-term maintainability Implementation Support & Technical Leadership - Provide hands-on support in prototyping and validating architecture decisions - Guide engineering teams during implementation - Review code, pipelines, and data models where needed - Resolve architectural blockers and technical risks - Ensure performance optimisation and reliability of data solutions What We’re Looking For - Proven experience as a Data Architect or Senior Data Engineer in transformation projects - Strong understanding of data modelling (conceptual, logical, physical) - Hands-on experience building data platforms in GCP and/or Azure - Strong knowledge of modern data architecture patterns (lakehouse, data mesh, event-driven architectures) - Experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines - Solid understanding of SQL, distributed data processing, and cloud-native architectures - Practical experience with DevOps/DataOps practices - Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical designs Technical Skills (Expected Hands-On Experience) - Cloud: GCP and/or Azure - Data Warehousing & Lakehouse architectures - SQL and data transformation frameworks - Orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Azure Data Factory) - Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform) – nice to have - CI/CD pipelines for data platforms - Experience working with large-scale structured and semi-structured datasets Ideal Profile - Strong technical background with architectural mindset - Comfortable switching between whiteboard design and hands-on validation - Experience working in consulting or complex transformation environments - Ability to communicate architecture decisions clearly to both business and technical stakeholders - Pragmatic, solution-oriented, delivery-focused We offer a flexible collaboration model based on a B2B contract, with the opportunity to work on diverse projects.
