DevOps Manager

• Lead all DevOps practices across AWS environments including development, test, staging, training, and production • Oversee system operations encompassing server administration, database administration, and comprehensive system monitoring • Manage and optimize infrastructure to support platform capacity requirements, including millions of grant opportunity searches and over 240,000 annual submissions • Coordinate maintenance activities during approved windows (midnight to 6:00 AM Eastern Time) • Manage and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines supporting approximately four major release cycles per year • Coordinate approximately 12 change requests per release cycle, ensuring proper testing, staging, and deployment procedures • Implement and maintain configuration management practices aligned with federal standards • Develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery plans meeting stringent federal requirements • Ensure Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of 48 hours and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) of 24 hours as specified in contract requirements • Lead incident response activities and coordinate resolution of system issues • Maintain compliance with FISMA and FedRAMP security requirements • Oversee vulnerability management and remediation activities • Support security assessments and Authority to Operate (ATO) processes
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to complete a Tier 1 background investigation
- Demonstrated experience managing AWS cloud infrastructure in federal environments
- Proficiency with Java/JEE applications on Apache Tomcat
- Experience with Oracle Database administration and Linux system administration
- Knowledge of JavaScript, Express, NodeJS, and MongoDB
- Familiarity with monitoring and operational tools including Solarwinds, Pagerduty, and Tableau
- Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence for project tracking and documentation
- Strong background in SDLC methodologies and Agile practices
- Understanding of FISMA/FedRAMP compliance requirements
- Experience with configuration management and change control processes
- Proven ability to lead technical teams in high-availability environments
- Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders in federal contracting contexts
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond effectively to system incidents.

Our Service Reliability Engineering team plays a significant role in delivering on the promise of a great cloud gaming experience to our customers. We do this by influencing design and operational decisions towards the overall stability of the gaming service. Our SREs focus on three main things: overall ownership of production, production code quality, and deployments. The successful candidate will be self-directed and able to participate in the way we make decisions at different levels. We expect our SREs to have opinions on the state of our service and provide critical feedback during different phases of the operational lifecycle. We are engaged throughout the S/W development lifecycle, ensuring the operational readiness and stability. • Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, Docker, and related IaC tooling • Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to ensure smooth, secure, and efficient software delivery • Implement and maintain DevSecOps practices including security scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance automation • Define and enforce cloud governance policies, cost management, and architectural guardrails across the organization • Build observability and monitoring solutions that improve reliability, performance, and incident response across all platforms • Partner with the CISO and security team to ensure ITGC evidence, audit readiness, and control frameworks are in place • Accelerate developer productivity through self-service tooling, environment automation, and standardized deployment patterns • Ensure high-quality infrastructure delivery through strong collaboration with product, engineering, and security • Contribute to architecture decisions and technology standards in coordination with engineering leadership • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and platform engineering • Mentor engineers on infrastructure best practices, cloud architecture, and operational excellence
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform and Ansible, following existing conventions and extending them thoughtfully. • Manage and support AWS services across our stack including EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudFront, and related services. • Maintain and improve infrastructure-as-code practices, ensuring consistency, reproducibility, and auditability across environments. • Participate in capacity planning and cost optimization, identifying opportunities to improve resource efficiency without compromising reliability. • Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent) to support reliable, automated delivery across development, staging, and production environments. • Work with engineering teams to improve build speed, deployment safety, and rollback capabilities. • Support blue/green and canary deployment strategies as appropriate for our platform needs. • Participate in on-call rotation and own production incidents end-to-end — from detection through root cause analysis, resolution, and post-mortem. • Use observability tooling (Datadog, CloudWatch, or equivalent) to monitor system health, establish alerting thresholds, and proactively surface issues before they impact customers. • Contribute to runbooks, incident documentation, and process improvements that reduce mean time to resolution over time. • Apply security best practices across infrastructure — IAM policy scoping, secrets management, network segmentation, vulnerability patching, and access controls. • Support compliance and audit requirements by maintaining clear documentation and ensuring infrastructure changes are tracked and reviewable. • Work closely with the senior engineer on the team to learn existing systems deeply and contribute to architectural improvements over time. • Proactively identify areas for improvement — tooling, automation gaps, manual processes, reliability risks — and raise them constructively with the team. • Document infrastructure clearly so that other engineers can understand and operate the systems they depend on.
