Shopify Backend Developer, API, Java, GraphQL – Spring Boot 3, GCP, Azure, AWS

• Design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot 3 on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). • Take full ownership of the end-to-end development lifecycle for new platform features, from technical design and requirements clarification with product and support teams to testing and deployment. • Dive into business logic, handle complex API integrations for Shopify, and build solutions that deliver real value to our customers in accounting and e-commerce. • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production environments to ensure our platform remains performant and reliable. • Participate in code reviews, share knowledge with the team, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
Job Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in backend development, with strong expertise in Java and the Spring Boot framework.
- Experience with AI coding tools and a willingness to further promote AI adoption in our development process.
- Structured thinker: skilled at analyzing complex problems and clarifying requirements with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- API expertise: deep experience designing and consuming Shopify GraphQL APIs, including complex third-party integrations.
- Cloud competence: practical experience building and deploying applications on cloud platforms, preferably GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, etc.).
- Problem-solving skills: excellent debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical abilities. Comfortable navigating uncertainty and identifying root causes.
- Strong collaborator: clear communicator who works effectively in a team environment. Experience with Git, continuous deployment pipelines (e.g., GitLab), and agile practices such as monthly scope planning and regular code reviews.
