Role Description We are looking for a Frontend Software Engineer to join us, either remotely or at our Berlin office. We are growing and need support in our team’s mission to engage our users and make more people climate-active! As an engineer at Ecosia, you will work with a recently formed cross-functional team to support our marketing efforts by improving communication channels with our users, from acquisition to retention. We want candidates with a JavaScript background who can manage their own tasks and work closely with our marketing team. Day-to-day, you will dive deep into our frontend (including backend-of-the-frontend) tech stack, improving the capabilities of our user engagement platform (Braze), creating landing pages, building emails, improving conversion tracking, and more. Join us! - Your chance to contribute meaningfully - Build, test, and deploy different products and integrations inside Ecosia products (client and server-side). - Contribute to a range of marketing needs, including CRM and analytics tooling integration, email, notifications, and other communication touch points with our users. - Collaborate with engineers from different teams, sharing what you know and learning from their experience. Qualifications - You have experience building and deploying production code in JavaScript. - You have experience in different testing methodologies. - You are motivated to dive deep technically, learn and apply best practices, and grow professionally. - You like to work collaboratively with Product, Design, Marketing, and other engineers. - You can communicate clearly in written and spoken English. Requirements - Optional Advantages: - Experience with marketing conversion tracking technologies, e.g., Google Tag Manager. - Marketing content tools, e.g., Braze, HubSpot. - Typescript and static site generators, in Vue.js or equivalent (e.g., React). • Build and ship features for sportsbook, casino, and fantasy apps using React Native • Implement complex UI: market layouts, betting slips, player props, lobby experiences • Create physics-based animations and gesture-driven interactions (carousel pagers, radial controls, animated transitions) • Work with canvas-based graphics for player cards, game visualizations, and dynamic effects • Contribute to our theme-based design system with 100+ shared components • Build and maintain WebSocket subscriptions for live odds, match updates, and user notifications • Implement state synchronization between real-time streams and local stores • Handle deep linking from push notifications, attribution links, and web referrals • Integrate payment flows: in-app purchases, bank transfers, card entry with verification • Debug and fix platform-specific issues across iOS, Android, and web • Optimize performance: animation frame rates, render efficiency, memory management • Write worklet functions for animation-thread execution • Maintain E2E automation tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines
