Head of Engineering

• Own the technology roadmap, architecture, and long-term technical vision. • Ensure the platform scales securely across customers, projects, and devices. • Lead architectural decisions across cloud infrastructure, integrations, data models, and access-control logic. • Balance innovation with operational stability in a safety-critical environment. • Lead and scale the engineering, QA, technical ops, and architecture teams. • Partner closely with Product, Operations, and Customer teams to align delivery with real-world job-site needs. • Establish and continuously improve SDLC, release management, and quality practices to ensure predictable delivery without sacrificing security or reliability. • Own the security and compliance posture, including SOC 2 audits, customer security reviews, and internal security. • Maintain and evolve policies around access control, data ownership, encryption, and auditability while partnering with leadership, legal, and external auditors on compliance and risk management. • Own cloud infrastructure, uptime, monitoring, and disaster recovery to ensure high availability for customers operating live construction sites. • Drive operational excellence around incident management, postmortems, and continuous improvement. • Take technical responsibility for the fleet of turnstiles, open portals, and handheld devices in the field. • Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team, partnering with the CEO, CPO, CSO, and other leaders on company strategy. • Represent the technology vision confidently with customers, partners, and auditors, while building a strong engineering culture grounded in accountability, pragmatism, and continuous learning.
Job Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering and technical leadership.
- Prior experience as a CTO, VP Engineering, or senior technical leader in a SaaS company.
- Strong background in cloud-native systems, modern APIs, and secure architectures.
- Strong background in modern web and mobile technology stacks, preferably React, React Native, and .NET.
- Hands-on experience with security, compliance, and audits.
- Experience leading distributed teams across geographies.
- Comfortable operating in regulated, operationally critical environments.
- Ability to move fluidly between strategy, architecture, and execution.
- Ability to work effectively with overlapping hours in the US Eastern Time (New York) zone.
