Core Responsibilities Medication Administration: Medication technicians prepare and administer prescribed medications, including oral, topical, and some injectable forms, following the five rights of medication administration: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, and right time. They may also assist patients with self-administration when appropriate. Patient Monitoring: They monitor patients for adverse reactions, side effects, or changes in health status, and report any concerns to supervising nurses or physicians. Vital signs may be taken before or after medication administration as required by care plans. Documentation: Accurate record-keeping is essential. Medication technicians document all administered medications, dosages, timing, and any patient responses or side effects in official medical records. The team assists company technical staff with proofreading and reviewing technical reports and documents.
