Specialized Travel Counselor
American Express Global Business Travel
• Advise and arrange travel for corporate business customers (both individuals and groups) • Arrange and book domestic and international business travel, in a variety of complexity, for air, road, rail, and accommodations • Use various Global Distribution Systems (GDSs), including Sabre, Apollo, Amadeus, and/or Galileo. Training may be provided • Communicate effectively with customers over the telephone, messaging (chat), e-mail, and/or back office systems • Act as a trusted advisor by using travel expertise to proactively provide advice and selling additional services to clients to meet their needs while adhering to their company’s travel policy • Work individually and as a team to meet business and account-specific goals, which may include customer satisfaction, call adherence and service metrics
Job Requirements
- Previous experience in travel (preferably business travel) and understanding of fares and ticketing rules for car, air, and hotel
- Passion for excellence in client service, including proactive anticipation of needs
- Native GDS expertise (Sabre, Apollo, Amadeus and/or Galileo)
- Professional communication (written and verbal)
- Attention to detail
- Act with integrity, and look after personal traveler information
- Possess a strong understanding of the travel industry (background in business travel, leisure travel, or airline reservation)
- Resolving customer issues quickly and independently
- Teamwork and openness to feedback

Adjunct Faculty Spanish Language Department of Education and Integrative Studies UMGC Stateside Location: Stateside Remote University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach online for the Spanish and World Languages/Cultures program. Intermediate Spanish I (SPAN 211): An intermediate-level study of the Spanish language. The aim is to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Spanish and apply them in a variety of real-life situations and social contexts in culturally appropriate ways. Intermediate Spanish II (SPAN 212): Course Desc: For online sections, microphone, speakers, and occasional synchronous work required. Prerequisite: SPAN 211 or appropriate score on a placement test. Further intermediate-level study of the Spanish language. The objective is to listen to, speak, read, and write Spanish and interact effectively with native speakers in a variety of personal and professional settings in culturally appropriate ways. Advanced Spanish I (SPAN 311): An in-depth review and expansion of Spanish language communication skills. The aim is to express opinions and use narration and description in a variety of personal and professional contexts. Focus is on improving linguistic proficiency while increasing cultural awareness. Modern Spanish-Speaking Cultures (SPAN 314): An overview of the diverse cultures that constitute the Spanish-speaking world, taught entirely in Spanish. The objective is to foster intercultural communication skills, recognize aspects of Spanish-speaking cultures and their significance to global and American society, and employ strategies to enhance language development and cultural awareness. Discussion covers the social, historical, and political experience of the Spanish-speaking people of Latin America, Spain, and the United States. Business Spanish I (SPAN 418): An exploration of business contexts and practices in the Spanish-speaking world, taught entirely in Spanish. The objective is to use knowledge of diverse business cultures to communicate and interact effectively in a business environment. Topics include contemporary economic conditions in various Spanish-speaking areas (including those within the United States), enterprise, management, human resources, and cultural issues that influence the workplace. Assignments include preparing a job-search portfolio and making a business presentation, both in Spanish. Business Spanish II (SPAN 419): A continued exploration of business conditions and practices in the Spanish-speaking world, taught entirely in Spanish. The goal is to use knowledge of diverse business cultures to communicate and interact effectively in a business environment in Spanish. Topics include contemporary economic conditions in various Spanish-speaking areas (including areas within the United States), marketing, investments, finances, logistics, and cultural issues that influence the market. Projects include preparation of a business proposal portfolio and a professional presentation with a peer review, both in Spanish. Required Education and Experience: - Master's Degree in Spanish, Spanish language pedagogy, Spanish linguistics, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning. - Three (3) years of experience teaching the Spanish language - Experience teaching business Spanish and cultural aspects of the Spanish-speaking world, with demonstrated ability to teach entirely in Spanish. - Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred - This position is specifically to teach remotely.
