We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Medical Receptionist with a strong focus on insurance authorizations and medical documentation management. This role plays a critical part in ensuring timely patient care by managing pre-authorizations and maintaining accurate, well-organized records within the EMR. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with ATHENA EMR (required) and is skilled in handling digital documentation workflows, including scanning, uploading, and organizing patient records. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities: - Manage and submit insurance authorizations and pre-authorizations, including follow-ups and issue resolution - Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits - Communicate with insurance companies to obtain approvals and status updates - Accurately document authorization details in ATHENA EMR - Upload, scan, and organize patient documents - Maintain accurate, complete, and well-organized patient charts within the EMR - Handle incoming faxes and electronic medical records - Track authorization statuses and ensure timely completion to avoid delays in patient care
Job Requirements
- Hands-on experience with ATHENA EMR
- Proven experience handling insurance authorizations and pre-authorizations
- Experience managing medical documentation within an EMR system
- Strong experience scanning, uploading, and organizing documents
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Solid understanding of medical terminology and payer authorization processes
- Please note that this is a full-time contractor position (40 hours per week) with a pay rate of $7 – $8 per hour depending on skillset and experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM PST.
