About the role We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant General Counsel to join our Legal team, to help support the growth of our business which exists at the intersection of the insurance and cybersecurity industries. This individual will be primarily responsible for supporting Coalition’s Security Team, which includes the Wirespeed services and our Incident Response services, in addition to assisting with general corporate and contracting matters. A successful candidate must have outstanding communication skills, experience managing multiple priorities, a strong sense of collaboration and teamwork, and can anticipate and deliver on the needs of a fast-paced and innovative business. In this role, you will advise on the design, launch, commercialization, and ongoing operation of Coalition’s cybersecurity products and services, partnering closely with product, engineering, security, operations, compliance, and go-to-market teams. This individual must be adept at working in a remote environment. Responsibilities - Commercial & Vendor Contracts - Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer, vendor, technology, and partnership contracts. - Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and fallback positions to support scalable contracting. - Product, Security, and Regulatory Support - Advise on legal, regulatory, and compliance issues relating to Coalition’s cybersecurity products and services across the full product lifecycle, from ideation and design through launch, scale, and iteration. - Partner with product, engineering, security, and operations teams early to identify and develop practical mitigations, including customer-facing disclosures, launch guardrails, and escalation paths. - Marketing, Privacy, and IP - Review and advise on marketing, advertising, and promotional materials, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and brand guidelines. - Collaborate with privacy and security stakeholders on data use, security, and confidentiality in commercial arrangements. - Work with Marketing Counsel to protect and mitigate risk to Security’s IP portfolio, as needed. - Governance, Policy, and Training - Provide counsel and guidance to Coalition’s Security team and other internal stakeholders on legal, ethical, business conduct, and compliance matters. - Contribute to the development and rollout of internal policies, playbooks, and training to support a strong culture of compliance. - Cross-Functional Partnership - Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the company and serve as a trusted advisor who delivers clear, practical, and business-focused advice. - Provide critical support and guidance on special projects and strategic initiatives as needed. Skills and Qualifications - Education & Bar Admission - JD from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to, and in good standing with, at least one US state bar (or equivalent qualification). - Experience - 8+ years of relevant legal experience at a leading law firm, in-house, or a combination of both, with a focus on commercial transactions and/or technology, insurance, or financial services. - Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements. - Skills & Attributes - Strong business judgment and ability to deliver practical, solutions-oriented advice in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. - Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities. - Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across functions and time zones. Bonus Points - Experience in insurtech, cybersecurity, SaaS, or financial services, or with regulated products and services. - Familiarity with privacy, data security, and/or marketing and advertising laws (e.g., CAN-SPAM, TCPA, UDAP, state insurance advertising rules). - Prior in-house experience supporting growth-stage or technology-driven companies. Compensation Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The US base salary for this position ranges from $190,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location.
