As a product manager, your goal is to ensure the product team you are responsible for focusses on the most valuable problems and continuously improves with every iteration. Your mission You collaborate in a product trio (product management – UI/UX – engineering lead) to build the right product and build the product right. Your goal is to understand users, their needs, and their use cases. We start with the problem and opportunity, aim to understand it well, and then move into the solution space. You guide this process from a product perspective, from early discovery, through delivery to continuous discovery. In your daily work you will: - Build and maintain a clear product vision and translate company strategy into a focused roadmap. - Identify and prioritize the most valuable problems to solve for users and the business. - Conduct continuous discovery through user research, interviews, rapid prototyping and experimentation in order to lead by evidence. - Work closely with design, engineering, marketing and sales to ensure a shared understanding of problems and solutions within the whole product-lifecycle. - Ensure that what we deliver meaningful outcomes, not just features. - Communicate priorities and decisions clearly across stakeholders. - Contribute to improving how the team works and collaborates by building sustainable habits and systems. What you'll bring - The ability to lead and inspire a product team through clarity of vision, focus, and prioritization. - Solid experience in user-centric product management for complex digital products. - The ability to come up with a product solution that is valuable to the user, usable by the user, buildable by our engineering team, and still viable from a business perspective. - Strong skills in defining product direction, prioritizing work, and shaping roadmaps. - The ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints and prioritize accordingly. - Experience conducting user research and working closely with users in order to ensure optimal outcome for user and business alike. - Experience collaborating closely within a cross-functional product team (engineering, design, QA, marketing, sales) to make things happen and get stuff done. - A pragmatic mindset paired with the habit of improving things iteratively while maintaining focus on what matters most. - Strong communication skills in English as well as German and the ability to align different stakeholders. - An open-minded and supportive team player who communicates proactively, embraces learning, and contributes to a positive team culture. Please apply with your non-AI generated CV and cover letter explaining your motivation to shape the future of OpenProject. We’d also love to learn how you think about product, users, and outcomes through examples from your past work. Looking forward to learning more about you! What awaits you - The best of both worlds: the creative challenges and learning opportunities of a start-up combined with the financial stability of a “grown-up” company in a team of dedicated professionals. - The flexibility to decide from where you would like to work: remotely in a location within 2 hours (time-zone) from Berlin, Germany. - Contributing to an open source project with high visibility and transparency within the developer world (our software code is freely available on GitHub). - You will work with a team of experienced software engineers in continuous delivery and integration processes who love to learn from each other. - Once a year, we dedicate our "Passion Time" off-site to work on any improvements of our choice with a business impact (e.g. product improvements, marketing concepts,...) in multi-disciplinary teams. - Employee benefits such as job bikes and paid child care. - You will be in touch with exciting clients and users from all around the globe, including NGOs and other open source projects which we love to support in fulfilling their mission (such as Greenpeace, Engineers without Frontiers), corporates like Siemens, Deutsche Bahn or Audi and public institutions like German Federal Ministries.
