Senior Engineer – Outage Engineering
GE Vernova
• Execute the design, development and analysis for specialty tooling and equipment using sound engineering principles and adhering to engineering standards, practices, procedures, and product requirements. • Develop Outage Servicing Tooling and Equipment of high complexity. • Demonstrate solid knowledge of Mechanical Design principles including expertise in areas such as; mechanical design, mechanical component design, structural design, welding, joint connections, and fabrication techniques. • Proactively communicate and deliver assignments on time. • Identify and mitigate technical risk. • Communicate technical details to fabricators through the generation of fabrication drawings, specifications, and direct communication. • Generate operational instructions for newly developed tools and equipment. • Contribute to the success of others by providing feedback and technical input during design reviews and verifications. • Provide mentorship to peers. • Provide emergent issue response to Field Services teams and Customers as required.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university
- At least 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or machine design experience
- Proficient in 3D CAD design and computer skills
- Experience in the development of equipment within the nuclear services sector, particularly with regards to services provided during a maintenance outage at BWR’s and PWR’s
- Familiarity with the following codes and standards: AISC, AWS, ASME BPVC, ASTM
- Solid understanding of the principles of Mechanical/Structural Design and Engineering
- Ability to troubleshoot improperly functioning equipment and implement the proper changes.
- Ability to assess technical risk and devise suitable means to mitigate.
- Familiarity with LEAN tools and principles.
