Hybrid Work Environment: Tuesday - Thursday in office | Monday & Friday WFH Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on water and wastewater treatment, hydraulic design, and/or infrastructure design. - Professional Engineer in the State of Minnesota (or ability to obtain within 12 months) with a minimum of four (4) years of progressive experience with water and wastewater projects. - Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D. - Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to apply effective written and verbal communication skills when preparing technical reports and specifications, participating in project team discussions, and interacting with clients and contractors. - Desire and/or demonstrated ability to leverage your technical knowledge to coach, mentor, and develop less experienced engineering professionals (graduate engineers, technicians, and interns). - Ability travel as needed for construction administration, team meetings, client consultations, site inspections/visits, etc.; Occasional overnight travel may be required. - Ability to work outdoors, including walking and climbing over rough terrain while carrying up to 40 pounds and/or standing for extended periods of time. - Possession of a valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements. This role sits between data science and platform engineering, turning models into reliable production services and batch pipelines. The ideal candidate has deep experience with MLOps, APIs, cloud-native deployment, model serving, workflow orchestration, and enterprise-scale ML platforms. Role Description - Business-critical team member in a fast-paced, high-volume, and dynamic fulfillment environment. - Responsible for strategic oversight, process execution, and timely handoff of route output solutions. - Must possess the ability to make critical business decisions related to identifying opportunities, resources, and prioritizing route optimization projects for a 1.1 billion dollar supply chain organization. - Conduct ongoing engineering and optimization of all market center service routes to improve efficiency and labor trends. - Provide baseline performance data as well as projected outcome statistics. - Involve and direct critical team members in the system data cleanup to ensure accurate engineered route output. - Assist with the generation and publishing of delivery metrics as needed, including baseline and projected productivity metrics for handoff to the execution team for post-project implementation. - Be the recognized company expert on route engineering software as well as statistical route data. - Develop Route Engineering process guidance documentation (Standard Operating Procedures) and project timeline expectations for all ongoing and future projects. - Collaborate with key area departments and Market Centers on ongoing route maintenance opportunities based on business changes related to growth/new business prospects. - This role is part of a broader strategic imperative to achieve operating efficiencies while improving customer service and delivery performance. - The Route Design Engineer will report and work directly with the Director, Route Solutions.
