Sales and Application Engineer – Specialist
Broan-NuTone
• The primary objective of the Sales Application Engineer/Specialist is to own relationships with mechanical engineers and educate them on Broan solutions in order to achieve sales and share growth objectives. • This individual maintains market intelligence (competitor, customer, Broan/External), implements effective processes to keep Marketing/Engineering current and/or ahead of the competition and works closely with the Regional Director, Key Account Manager, and Agency representatives. • Collaborate and support other Business Development Managers and demonstrate leadership by sharing ideas and reinforcement of best practices. • Work with consulting engineers, contractors, and developers to promote and assist with design of ventilation and HVAC solutions to generate mechanical design specifications for our products. • Establish and build long-term valued relationships with consulting engineers, contractors, building owners and developers to secure their commitments to our products. • Prepare and provide effective seminars on our products, their application, selection, and design tools, aimed at conveying the benefits of our systems. • Act as engineering resource to support the channel, service existing accounts and generate future business prospects through frequent customer visits, advice on system design, attending sales calls and other activities required to increase the volume of specified system designs in the region using our products. • Expand market awareness of our products and our industry experience by communicating features and benefits of our products and services effectively. • Maintain records and submits reports as required by the Company. Those include Monthly Territory report out, daily use of Salesforce, Customer correspondence and Expense. • Close and grow sales through professional communication with existing and potential clients. • Manage and interpret customer requirements – speaking with clients to understand, anticipate and meet their needs. • Attending and participating in trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events. • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and positive attitude always.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical sales, preferably in the HVAC industry.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Ideal candidate has experience influencing multiple people within the sales process (Engineers, builders, contractors, HERS raters, distributors).
- Proven Self-starter with a strong work ethic, hunter mentality, love of sales, and the drive to get out in the field and support existing business and/or pursue new business daily.
- Highly motivated, disciplined, organized, detail oriented, demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent people skills; effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
- Relentless positive attitude and willingness to help.
- Strong administrative skills (i.e., salesforce, excel, word, power-point, mapping software) that includes experience with Salesforce for project tracking and customer analysis is a plus.
- Foster understanding of and adherence to sales processes and policies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in managing analytically rigorous initiatives.
- Intellectually curious with an understanding the goal is to make the business grow.
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to travel between Canada and the US.
