We’re looking for Auto Damage Trainees in San Francisco, CA who are motivated and ready to grow their careers to the next level with GEICO. Flexibility to work in different environments is also key, as our auto damage adjusters may work from their home, a body shop, a virtual estimating center, or even on the road. Our industry-leading, paid training will teach you the ins and outs of automobile damage adjusting, so you can directly assist our customers after accidents or major disasters. We’re looking for those who are equally motivated as they are compassionate. Your unique skillset, along with the latest auto-adjusting tools and tech, will help you: Inspect and assess vehicle damage caused by all types of accidents Estimate vehicle repair costs and negotiate equitable settlements Partner with other adjusters and supervisors to work with body shops, rental partners, and parts providers. Description Liberty Mutual has an immediate opening for an experienced Claims Professional to join our Commercial Casualty Complex Claims Team. The Senior Technical Claims Specialist determines coverage, investigates complex and highly complex Commercial Casualty claims, determines liability, sets and adjusts reserves, evaluates the claim, negotiates a settlement, authorizes and resolves the claim. The selected person will demonstrate a high level of expertise and sound judgment in complex matters and may act as a subject matter expert. This role includes evaluating policies/manages claims for Liberty Mutual and Helmsman customers/accounts. There is a strong preference for the selected candidate to live within 50-mile radius of one of the listed hub offices: Boston, MA; Plano, TX; Suwanee, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Hoffman Estates, IL; Lake Oswego, OR; Las Vegas, NV, Chandler, AZ or Weatogue, CT. This policy is subject to change. We will consider a remote candidate if you do not live within 50-miles of one of these offices. The salary range posted reflects the range for the varying pay scale that encompasses each of the Liberty Mutual regions, and the overall cost of labor for that region. We are open to fill this position at a level based on candidate experience, and the target salary is $105,000 to $125,000, dependent on candidate experience. Responsibilities: - As the claim’s owner, determines coverage, investigates the claims, determines liability, sets and adjusts reserves, evaluates the claim, negotiates a settlement, authorizes and pays the claim; may deny claims. - Reviews lawsuit documentation and supporting documents, claims file, investigation, etc. Establish actions to be taken to resolve lawsuit. - Includes determining loss coverage, amounts owed, discovery plans, setting reserves and negotiations. - Establishes appropriate working team (Home Office Legal, Defense Counsel and Home Office Claims) based on allegations established in suit. - Responsible for managing the practices and billing activities of outside counsel. - Accountable for security of financial processing of claims, as well as security information contained in claims files. - Trains and mentors staff as appropriate; manages relationships and acts as liaison with various business partners (e.g., Underwriting, Reinsurance, Etc.). - Keeps abreast of existing and proposed legislation, court decisions and trends and experience pertaining to specialty coverage issues. - May analyze the impact upon claims policies and procedures and advises Claims. - Management so appropriate action can be taken where required. - Participates in special projects. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree and 5 to 7 years claims adjusting experience. - Advanced knowledge of commercial casualty claims investigation, coverage evaluation, reserving & expense management, resolution strategy, negotiation, litigation management, claims evaluation as well as the insurance legal and regulatory environment. - Intermediate to advanced level of skill in the area of customer focus, problem solving, communications, gaining support, teamwork, and adaptability and demonstrated ability to work independently, achieve results and execute thoroughly. - Bodily Injury litigated claims experience required. - Commercial Casualty Claims experience preferred, along with multi-jurisdiction and dedicated accounts.
