About the role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build and evolve our platform. This is a hands-on position within a small, collaborative team where writing production code is a core part of the job—alongside thoughtful system design and technical judgment. You will spend a substantial portion of your time developing and shipping production systems across the stack. At the same time, you will contribute to design discussions, help shape architectural decisions, and translate technical direction into clear, applicable plans. This role is suited for a senior engineer who leads through contribution—someone who builds with depth, approaches system design deliberately, brings clarity to complex decisions, and elevates the engineers around them. What You'll Do Hands-On Engineering - Develop scalable full-stack systems, with primary depth in backend services (TypeScript/Node.js and Python) and meaningful contributions to React-based frontend applications. - Develop APIs, services, and data models while contributing to cloud infrastructure, reliability, and overall production readiness. Architecture & Design - Contribute to technical design and architectural decisions, helping structure systems for scalability, maintainability, and long-term. - Evaluate tradeoffs, surface risks early, and turn high-level direction into, well-reasoned technical approaches. Planning & Execution - Break down complex programs into clear, executable phases and convert agreed direction into practical implementation plans. - Collaborate with product and leadership to refine ideas before development begins and guide delivery of well-scoped releases. Team Impact - Support and mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and design collaboration while promoting reliability, performance, and maintainability. - Contribute to practical engineering standards and operate effectively in an environment where priorities evolve and not everything is fully defined upfront. About you - Required Experience - 7+ years of experience building and operating production software systems. - Backend expertise in TypeScript (Node.js) and Python, including building and maintaining production-grade APIs and services. - Working proficiency in TypeScript / JavaScript and React for frontend development, with backend depth as the primary expectation. - Experience designing and evolving production-grade APIs and service interfaces. - Experience working with relational databases and managing data models in production environments. - Experience building and operating systems in AWS or comparable cloud platforms. - Experience with system design, scalability, and architectural tradeoffs. - Experience contributing to both design and delivery decisions within small, high-ownership teams. - Experience with, or willingness to learn, the thoughtful application of modern AI-assisted tools to enhance productivity and problem-solving. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. This range may differ based on your experience and skill set, geographic location, and cost of living considerations. Role Description The scope of the proposed services will include the following: - Development, administration & configuration of a custom-built .NET development project - Provide technical knowledge transfer, training, documentation, mentorship, and guidance to State personnel for all requested work - Provide oversight and guidance of the customer-agency’s replacement software and make performance improvements - Perform code reviews and testing on new code - Participates in all necessary team meetings and design sessions in accordance with Scrum ceremonies - Cooperation with the State’s Technical Architect to ensure compliance with OTS standards of State applications Qualifications - Five (5) plus years of expertise and/or relevant experience in C# - Five (5) plus years of expertise and/or relevant experience in ASP.NET Core (version 6.0 or later) - Five (5) plus years of expertise and/or relevant experience in MSSQL - Two (2) plus years enterprise-level software development - Two (2) plus years of experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment Requirements - Has led a team of application programmers under Microsoft development stack - Experience designing and developing distributed systems (Microservices/SOA) - Experience developing reports with SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, or other reporting tools - Experience setting up, maintaining, and using DevOps pipelines, including CI/CD, such as GitHub Actions and Octopus Deploy, and automating tasks - Experience with the Git Version Control System, including branching strategies for complex systems - Proficiency in front-end development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - Hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue.js, React, NodeJS, Angular, TypeScript, etc. - Strong understanding of RESTful API design and integration - Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, or cloud-native managed container orchestrators) - Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code practices using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Biceps, etc. - Solid understanding of security best practices for modern web applications - Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities - Strong communication and teamwork skills - Experience working in Agile environments with iterative development practices - Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS - Familiarity with API integrations for external data sources - Exposure to modular or microservices architectures - Knowledge of message-based systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Service Bus) and asynchronous programming models

• Own and drive the development of our React Native apps (iOS & Android) • Technical ownership of the entire mobile app architecture • Work closely with our web engineering team • Translate and extend web features into the mobile app • Holistic understanding of the business logic and independently ensure a complete and robust implementation of all use cases, including edge cases • Help shape product decisions in the mobile domain

• Responsible for the successful design and delivery of complex analyses, reporting solutions and applications to meet business needs. • Interacts directly with internal customers and colleagues in the development of reporting and analytic solutions. • Collaborates with internal partners and organizations in the design and development of reporting solutions, analytic studies and applications to support business needs. • Develops, validates and executes complex queries, develops complex reports and performs complex data analysis that answers business questions for internal customers; interprets results, and makes recommendations to business areas based on findings. • Designs and Develops applications for internal customers. • Evaluates data needs of assigned projects, assures data integrity and suitability, and determines data collection methods, metrics definitions and evaluation methods. • Turns data into actionable information through reporting solutions. • Troubleshoots technical details / issues. • Presents analysis and reports to internal customers and stakeholders.
