Associate Field Engineer

• Perform and support fiber optic validation and testing activities, including OLTS (Tier 1) and OTDR (Tier 2) testing, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards (TIA, BICSI). • Review and validate fiber installation quality, including routing, labeling, termination, and splicing, to ensure adherence to approved design and customer requirements. • Assist in the development, review, and completion of test result packages and turnover documentation for customer acceptance. • Coordinate with splicing and installation crews to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve fiber performance issues or test failures. • Track daily production metrics related to testing and validation to ensure alignment with project schedules and throughput targets. • Maintain accurate records of fiber counts, test results, and as-built conditions using project documentation systems and software tools. • Support commissioning efforts by ensuring all fiber systems meet required performance thresholds prior to handoff. • Communicate proactively with field leadership and project teams regarding quality issues, risks, or delays that may impact project timelines. • Ensure compliance with all site safety requirements and operational procedures within active construction environments.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in fiber optic installation, testing, or telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber testing equipment (OLTS, OTDR) required.
  • Familiarity with TIA/EIA standards, BICSI practices, and data center environments preferred.
  • Experience supporting large-scale or hyperscale projects is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fiber matrices, and test requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a high-production, fast-paced environment.
